Just saying that there is always going to be people that are going to ruin things for everybody else and the best way to deal with it is to deal with it. Throw down if you must. Call a cop. Write your congressman. One thing I know, I don't like localism and won't put up with that ****. Too much bad in this world with no justice except for the way we handle it. Windmills are wicked evil

Old guys can go either way. I find that there are two kinds in the lineup:

    1. Those who found surfing later in life: these guys are typically just stoked to be out there and are excited to share that with others. They're either competent and take wave etiquette seriously or they're clueless and not good enough to have any kind of impact on your session.

    2. Those who have been surfing for at least three decades: these guys are just old and plain bitter. They can't surf the way they used. They're envious of the young rippers. They have to regularly contemplate transitioning to a fun shape, if they haven't already. If they're already on the fun shape, they realize they're only ten pounds away from starting to research performance SUPs.

I wouldn't engage with these guys. Basically if they touch you at all its assault. I would call the cops. Bring attention to these idiots.
Bridgeport is def way scarier then Newport! I should know I'm from New Haven area. Connecticut sucks !!! Lol I'm living the dream in Carolina now!

Remember this--when you get to "old guys", you will be one of those. Your choice of course.
Be nice to us old guys; we have skills you can only dream of.

Hipsters with their sense of surfing entitlement, those bearded queermos and their skinny jeans and all the nonsensical surfing jive they spew.

    The Hate is real

Soon the Canadians will arrive then were really all efffed anyways. Let me tell you, rat face bearded Canadians are the worst everrr!!!

A bench off would indeed solve this issue, just simply say "ok bruh, how much u bench?" Then be like "Brah we can have a bench off and solve this like men" The antagonist will simply be so baffled by your suggestion that it will go away.

shouldn't be a problem in RI but NH/ EMASS where I have assignments this time of year (spring), Ive encountered many a Canadians with rat like jaw structures and patchy, spotty (mangy) looking beards, and non english speak. White sea aPe very much disapproves of such character especially when its a group consisting of 3 or more.
