http://www.usopenofsurfing.com/live Booohyah. Always fun watching the pros groveling in the East Coast of California.
OK, actually it's pumping there right now but the swell is supposed to be fading throughout the week.
Gabriel Medina: I will never be as good as him if I live through two lifetimes. But man, he is pretty predictable and boring....why does he opt to go straight so much? Not every wave needs to turn into an air reverse.... How but a cutback, kid? And him being an "air specialist" or whatever... it just seems when other guys land airs they look better than Medina's. If he can't find good ramps, he can't even compete...
That last comment sounds like someone who has not watched medina surf enough. I think he's a little overrated, but his air game is pretty absurd (see: backflip, any of his ESPN real surf part for X games, etc.), dude has sick tuberiding ability (see at pipe or in comp at portugal last year when he lost to Julian at supertubos), and he's got an arsenal of turns. I totally agree he can be predictable with how much he looks to punt, but I also think you're underselling him pretty hard.
definitely not a medina fan but i wouldn't be surprised if it came out that he's hurt. he hasn't been surfing nearly as well as he was last year
I have respect for him and all the guys on the tour. Just critiquing from the peanut gallery. I do it when I watch football too.
Yeah just turned this on, thanks Erock. Looks like closeout city now. They're all bailing soon after takeoff.
i hear you. i thought he'd be one and done. i always root for the brazilians simply because they try so damn hard. it seems to mean more to them then the 'over it' too-cool-to-try americans now-a-days.
