Someone brought this up a few days ago that there is a new buoy that gives wave/swell measurements closer to the VB coast.

I have added this buoy (44099) as well as a new coastal weather station off of Cape Henry to the Mid Atlantic Buoy Maps. This will definitely be helpful to the VB folks, especially on those steep S/SSE swell days.

Whats up with the wind direction on 44009? It used to give you direction, now it is just speed.

I think the weather vane on 44009 is simply broken, its been making me mad too. Its also always bothered me that it doesn't show swell direction

i switched the wind station for ocean city, md to the indian river inlet station since 44009 is broken.

    44009 does show swell direction.

Yay for updated technology reinforcing the fact that the waves on the mid-atlantic are few and far between!

Feeling a little cynical at the moment, I am.

Ooops, my bad, I was reading that as 44009 shows swell heights. You are correct, 44009 does not show swell direction. This requires a different type of measurement and is not on all of the NDBC buoys.
