If you're out off VB this weekend, you may see the airshow being held Sat and Sun over the Oceanfront. I saw this P-51 flying over Dam Neck Friday afternoon. Cool. Love those old aircraft. The Virginia Beach Military Aviation Museum in Pungo has a lot of them. Although they've had funding issues, they put on vintage (WW I & W II) aircraft air shows and related events each year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA-FjOM2z_k#t=15
That's gotta be fun. My wife and I (actually, we were still dating at the time) went up in a sail plane from the Santa Ynez airport (near Pres. Reagan's ranch). That was a kick. It was a grass runway. Each of us went up separately. The pilot had to put a couple ballast bags in the cockpit because my wife didn't weigh enough. The airshow over the VB Ocean front starts at noon today. After about 8:30 AM the wind shifted, picked up, and everything turned choppy and disorganized. But it was fun earlier.
Dos, how big was it before the wind got on it? I caught some fun thigh-waist waves yesterday after work which killed my motivation to get up at the ass-crack of dawn today so I could paddle out before all the family stuff started...
2-3 ft with a south moving current -at least off Dam Neck. I got out Friday 5-6PM but was struggling a bit with a different board I'm still adjusting to.
