1st Street Jetty is Surfline's "Cam of the Day"! ... How often does that happen Can't wait to get off work
I second all comments! Spent a few hours out this morning, caught several overhead peaks and nice barrels. VB was actually barreling! Yes, I know it's amazing. On my last wave, some dude was paddling out about 20 yards from me watching me get deeply pitted and spat out. Love that feeling...
seriously.......i woke my ass up at 600AM to check the cams, maybe it was inbetween some poor sets but needless to say i went back to bed. F**************k MEEEEEEE
Touche! I would show you guys the video, but I forgot to strap on my GoPro nut-cam attachment to film the glory shot!
I checked the cams too around 6:30 ... it was pretty disorganized, but the wind was out of the SSW. By 8 a.m. though the wind was directly off-shore from the WSW, and had cleaned up the waves pretty nicely. Also by around 9 a.m. the short-period windswell from the ESE was subsiding in favor of the long-period ground-swell from the ENE, and that really helped to clean things up as well.
It's official... after a second surf, it was officially the most fun day of 2013 in VB. Not the biggest, mind you, but fun and about head high all day long. The barrels of the morning mostly disappeared in the afternoon in favor of long, carve-able lines. Best thing is the cold water keeps the kook factor down to nearly zero.
