So, let's see, you and sigmund don't look at and think about a beautiful woman because likely she would never go out with you?

I don't need a beautiful woman....I already am with one.
And hurricanes are far from beautiful.

I know your just pulling legs Barry. But I'll respond anyway. There's a difference between getting your hopes up and just being observant of what MAY come our way.

I remember a few years back. For 2 or 3 years in a row, we got really decent cane swells. I can go back in my memory and remember every storm name and relate it to at least a few waves that are forever engraved in my skull. Past few years have NOT been like that. Sure we've gotten the big winter stuff, but fun waves in a 3/2....i hadn't felt that in a few years. The weather and all this stuff interests me. Even if it doesn't mean waves. It's like when you surf for a few hours, the tide kills it, you head home.... But you stop to check a spot or two just to keep tabs on what's happening.

I'm trying to think of the last Labor Day hurricane on the East (Atlantic) Coast? Ernesto in 2006? Which was like the Friday/Saturday before Labor Day. Was Hermine the Saturday before Labor Day last year? Or the week before that? Irene was the Sunday before Labor Day Sunday in 2011.

I guess if you are beta testing the impact of pine trees coming through your home, that is cool. But, if you are trying to catch some waves, you will have missed it at the point of landfall.

It can be disappointing to watch these things flare up and then become duds. but, the anticipation of a storm setting up nicely to provide EC surf is worth watching IMO.

Betty - that looks like an old spaghetti plot from some other system. At least to me it does

Anyway, cool to see (from an east coast swell standpoint) the Euro and GFS trending north, both keeping the system mostly north of the islands, and towards the Bahamas. There's still hope for waves without the weather, at least for some.

Hermine last Labor Day weekend was killer. It reminded me of a winter NE'er swell only with summer-like air and water temps. We got it really good one morning in OCMD during that swell. Pretty sure i shot these on Labor Day morning, or maybe the day after.

    As usual, beautiful photos!

"This mornings runs have brought concern back to 99L.

The 0z Euro now moves the system north of the Caribbean, and starts to develop it a week from today (aug 13th) east of the Bahamas, at the end of the run (Aug 16) there is a hurricane sitting off south Carolina, with it still moving toward land.

The 6Z GFS is similar but it clips the northern Bahamas on August 13th, as a weaker system, then bends it back north for a near landfall between Charleston and Myrtle Beach on Aug 15th and then rides along the coastline through the outer banks.

Still too far to say much of anything about this system other than continue to watch it. "

I think that's why in my head Hermine was a winter swell. Not because of actual temperature. But just because the waves reminded me of a winter swell.

This is trending in the right direction for swell. Cutting down the coconuts AGAIN! Just in case. Gunning up the generator. And getting lots of new batteries. If I'm properly preparrede no landfall here. But this is a precursor, like preseason. Butt you never no. It's gonna be a long, busy fall season. IMO

I think about a beautiful woman, just as she takes her top off and climbs into bed.
