Don't count this one out just yet. It may not strengthen much, but it might bring a small bump the next weekend of August 19th. Instead of ankle to knee, might could see 2-3'. Too far out to say much. Just keep following it. You know how in Peter Pan, the boys and girls fanned the embers of the dying Tinkerbell by clapping, and revived her. So can SI boys revive this system by doing the usual SI version of cheering it on... "As of 8:00 am EDT Thu Aug 10 2017 ... Showers and thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure located about a couple of hundred miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands have changed little overnight. Some slow development of this system is possible during the weekend while the system moves northwestward over the western Atlantic. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent."-- NHC
I see the graph as half full. Others chose to see it as half empty, and focus on the flat models with no titties. Homos.
This should be the SI theme song for all you eternal optimists out there in the lineup.
Disturbance 1: 60% Chance of Cyclone Formation in 48 Hours As of 2:00 pm EDT Sat Aug 12 2017 ... The area of disturbed weather associated with a low pressure system located a couple of hundred miles northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands continues to show some signs of organization, but there is no evidence of a closed surface circulation. Conditions remain conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form during the next day or two. The low is forecast to move northwestward and northward through the weekend, and then turn to the northeast away from the United States early next week. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent. Good job clapping Tinkerbell back to life buoys!
Holy crap...just checked the si fu-cast and it's calling for DOH sets in the afternoon tomorrow. Just picked up a 7'2" minigun this week for puerto rico this winter and may end up gettin to use it tomorrow!
I bookmarked this site a while back.. I think it's pretty neat ... animated weather map, with easy to use overlays and precise spot forecast. It has many neat customizable features. The more you get into it the better you appreciate all the tools!! https://www.windy.com/?waves,33.174,-56.689,5
Really fun surf at WB this morning. Nice a-frames coming in when the tide filled in a bit. YOu guys up north should have a blast!!
just got out of the water in Frisco (we're staying about 500 yards north of the pier). Solid 2+ feet overhead with occasional cleanup sets at or near DOH. Crumbly, but super fun. Someone called the beach rescue patrol, and they showed up with sirens blaring and a jet ski in tow. Neighbors said they were watching me surf for a good 15-20mminutes before they said they were comfortable that I knew what I was doing and left.
