great interview Matt. Its awesome you were able to interview Vincent, as he is at the top as far as photographers go.

Do you know how he got involved with the Jamie O'Brien Project and Surf Photos in general? I know he does a lot of different type of work, so it is really interesting to see him doing the surf stuff.

Vincent had done a piece for Play magazine about the Pipe contest in 2006 and had been very interested in working in the area again. Vincent had created a short clip titled "Reverie" demonstrating some of the video capabilities of the new Canon 5d Mark II (which can be seen on the opening page of his site here: http://vincentlaforet.com/). Jamie's manager saw the video clip and contacted Vincent about working together with Jamie for a new project and it seems the whole thing began there. He also mentioned he did a piece for the New York Times shooting the photos of surfers of New York in the past so it wasn't his first brush with surfing. I'm not positive if Vincent knew he would be testing out some new products for the RED camera while he was shooting with Jamie but he did an amazing job as you can see in the video clip. I encourage people to get lost on his blog, there's a massive amount of information if you go back and look through the past months documenting his work. Also check out RED camera's here : http://www.red.com/

pretty cool that someone who is not a surfer can go out and shoot water shots and get such cool perspectives of surfing.

After reading this it is quite clear why he's where he is. Really from an artist/photographers point of view the last line of the interview is the recipe for success, simply due to the amount of people involved.

Outstanding interview, good questions which drew informative and elaborate answers.

    Thanks!
