i knew a guy who used to manage that WH in Columbia for several years. He was selling green on the side; don't know how he'd have time for both since WH managers worked like 6 days a week. anyway, he proved very useful for that three, four year stretch
get yourself a waffle house app and find the nearest one, Cuda. it's a family tradition for most southerners. the grill is close by and they're famous for the waffles of course, hashbrown combinations, and sweet tea. i remember my pops buying off the waffle mix under the table from them like 15 years ago. if ya yanks like chick fila, then there should be no shortage of WH lovers up there too
WH is more of a ghetto tradition than it being considered "fine dining". But if you like decent helpings of greasy food like I do, it's a great place. Kind of like a chain version of a local hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
It's the kind of place where you see Kid Rock and Tommy Lee get in a fist fight over a worn out dishrag like Pamela Anderson.
the type of place where, at 2 am, on one side of town it's packed with drunk rednecks about to fistfight and on the other side of town its packed with a bunch of thugs about to stab each other. Meanwhile, I'm eating at COOKOUT, the only place where you can get uncomfortably full at 3am for under $6
cops usually know when you're drunk and they stay outside waiting to see if you get in the car. usually, you have to call a cab or eat food/drink coffee to sober up. this happened to me a couple times with friends, but i've seen/heard it happen to a lot of ppl too. also, huddle house is sht fyi
Denny's is always good to fall back on if your locale doesn't have WH. Had one in San Diego back in the day with a bar area, great place to get some hair of the dog.
Florida don’t have 24 hour diners like Jersey does, at least not in Bradenton Beach, where my close family friend lives. He’s one of those guys that loves socializing with everyone and stopping in to eat at weird hours. When he lived in Ventnor years ago, he’d frequent the Irish Pub, just to eat and hang out. He doesn’t even drink. So he told me he hits up Waffle House these days. Says it’s a sight during the AM hours. I’ve only went when I’ve taken the drive from Jersey to Florida. There’s literally one at least every other exit on 95 between Virginia and Northern Florida. There’s almost as many billboard advertisements for Waffle House as there are for Pedro and South Of The Border.
this is the one... wilmington, nc action from the other night https://www.wwaytv3.com/2018/06/18/waffle-house-brawl/
