But, killing "the king of the jungle" with a bow is chalked full of egotistical drive. Killing a deer for food is just rewarding in a different way. You would not believe how careful I am from field to freezer. It would crush me to see a deer go to waste (although your point about the other animals consuming it and therefor not wasted is a valid point). As a hunter though, if I don't make a clean kill or the deer suffers, it is bothersome. You think that guy cared that the lion suffered for hours until it was killed...NO. You can not directly compare these two very different types of "hunting". I don't have a beef with you (best pun ever and intended)! Are you a strict vegetarian?

Black bears are plentiful and are legally hunted in most states that have them. Dude...lions aren't nearly extinct. There's over 20,000 of them and they are easily bred in captivity. A low bag limit(he's paying 50k because of low bag limit) would offset any type of severe decline in species. When you take out a single male lion like that you leave an opening for other males. Aren't you venturing into the deer's territory or bear's territory when you hunt them? Why is it different that being in "lion's territory"(almost the entire African continent). How do you define "where no man belongs". This is very silly propaganda stuff fed to people by decades of nature programming. People think lions are cool. Rats are not. That's really all it is.
