Wanted FunBoard/Beginner Board

yeah for beginner funboard is good if you will want to eventually go shortboard. If not, longboard is great for chill days. Does he want softtop or something? to start out on

 

I have a 7'4 kechele pug performer that is a good starter board....it's a little beat up, but I could sell it to you guys for $150....let me know...if you need pics or anything just let me know

 

I can also post them on here, so you can get an honest opinion from the guys on the forum...

how long have you been using the kechele? It does seem pretty beat up, id say $100-150 is fair price for it though. It is under your max price, however it seems alright to start on.

 

I have a 7'6 NSP epoxy funboard which is very durable and can take a beating. It's in practically brand new condition.

Wife tried surfing but it didn't pan out. The board has only been used 2 times. I'm in Southern Monmouth County. PM me if interested.

 

I bought it in 2004, but i have not used it in years.....I got the board to re-learn to surf after being out of the water for a while....I got bad advice when I started surfing and got boards that were to small to learn on and got fustrated..... so when I started back up, the guy that sold it to me suggested I start bigger then go smaller as I get the basics down, so thats what I did....I used the board prolly for a solid 3 years straight before I got another one....one of the best decsions I ever made was to teach myself how to surf

 

The Pug Performer is more of a hybrid than a funshape. An excellent choice to learn on. It's foiled thinner than most funshapes, has more performance rails and bottom contours, and has a more pulled in nose and tail. Funshapes are more eggy with more volume carried out to the rail. Typically flat bottoms with vee out the back. The Pug has concave, if I recall.

I would pay $100 bucks and walk away knowing it was an honest deal, and good for the first time surfer.

 

The Kechele Pug is a great board to start with.

 

Hey... just noticed in this month's Surfer that Kech is still making those Pugs. Wow... They've been around for a while, but I haven't seen one in years. Guess I'm not looking in the right spots.

They're still in production because they're good freak'n boards, standing the test of time.

 

That looks like a really good board to start with, as long as youre not really fat

 

just pm me if you have any more questions....whatever you do...foam is your friend.....when you are just beginning to learn you want a good size board and also buy used.....I would also check craigslist to see if you see anything on there...and to answer your question from before that size board would be fine for your friend/bro and I'm 6'1 170 ish, but was around 160ish when I learned on it....I wanted you to get an honest opinion from guys on here not just me because when I first started surfing I got bad advice and got fustrated because I bought a board I was not ready for...I have been surfing for roughly 15 years(on/andoff) or so but only seriously for the last 7...the first 8 was kind of a screw around time where I only surfed when I had extra time because I enjoyed watching others surf, so I wanted to learn...the last 7 years I have revolved my life around surfing because if I dont get in the water every few days I go nuts...so this dry spell is definatly hurting...Like I said foam is your friend and find out what your boys are looking to do with surfing, for example, do they want to become shortboards, just cruise on a longboard, or Is this just gonna be something you guys screw around with....hopefully some others will comment because there is always someone who knows more about surfing....especially guys on here who have been surfing for 30 years or so....they were once in your shoes and know what they are talking about....they have been there done that, so take there advice it's only going to help you....later... sorry for the blabber
