Hi Charles, we can do a 9" fin maximum.

The price takes into account the necessary expenses, plus a few hours of hand finishing work. 3D printing is not a cheap option.

Here's a 9" fin in blue, prior to hand finishing:

chucka-boo-boo, you & the gnome are the ones that keep bringing this inane thread back into view.
The only ones interested in this spew are you & your da-da aka the gnome.

Everyone else already let you know what a clown act you're living; isn't it about time you posted your holiday vine, y'know, the one where you burst out of a cake & into gnome's beard...?

$169, Roy, I am really proud of you for being somewhat realistic on this endeavor. I would actually consider using one if I didn't think Yankee would shoot me for it. Fits a standard longboard finbox I assume? Can you break it down for a cave man like myself, what does it offer that my normal fins don't?http://wp.surfride.com/2012/02/fin-guide-longboard-580.jpg

Don't mind yankee, he is just bitter because I stood him up on our date at the truck stop men's room on saturday ;)

Looks like a humpback whale fin. Aren't whales really slow movers?

    And Bingo was his name.

Well, the trolls who would take violent exception to your observation are 'Them Who Know Better Than The Human Race,' aka chucka-boo-boo & his dad-da the gnome.

These are two trolls whose seed was spread by aliens over two earth hemispheres. They were then mysteriously given basic human tools such as planers & lathes with the results, sadly, being the constant online flogging by said trolls of their demented shop projects as 'better technology' and 'the best surfboards on the planet' as well as somehow being worth $500k per chunk of plywood, or more.

How bout a fin that is warped all the way around? Betcha that would provide a unique ride.

The bumpy leading edge gives huge gains ( around 40%) in the angle of attack capability, and unlike conventional leading edges maintains high lift right up to the stall zone. There is also increased lift and lower drag.

The humpbacked whale is an agile creature and its flippers are a better model for surfboard fins than the fins belonging to high speed fish.

    http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/biomechanics/082067/as-the-whale-turns

Fish fins are not analagous to surfboard fins. The flexibility of fish bodies means that they turn without subjecting fins to a high angle of attack, and the fin does little of the work of either propulsion or turning The Whale flipper on the other hand needs to operate at high angles of attack.

Adapting the whale flipper to higher speeds is simply a matter of adjusting the chord ratio and foil profile of the fin.

Furthermore upright elliptical planform fins are inherently more efficient than raked fins like the Greenough.

The gnome apparently used to work at NOAA.

That pic looks like the medical scans of what was pulled out of chucka-boo-boo's rectum. Must be nice to finally be able to sit down without a ripping sensation in your bowels, eh boo-boo?

GEEBUS KRIPES, GIVE IT A BREAK! or come up with some different material. unless yer just a 1 trick pony. In that case, just apply a number to each of your 2 rants, it's fast and it'll save you from getting carpel tunnel syndrome. like just put #1, we'll all know, chuckabooboo rectum. and #2, Chuckaboo and his dada,

That's an interesting article. I always thought someting swept like a Greenough 4-A or tuna's fin was most efficient/less drag; however, I'm not ready to scallop the leading edge of my fins yet. I will be waiting to hear some reports from other surfers who buy one.

The one-trick VB pony has spoken; er, that would be you, macaroni: the country goombah wannabe who figured out how to copy & paste & bores everyone with conspiracy theories & archy-fan-club stuff.
What, have you picked up emass8's superiority mantle after last weekend's mackin' swell in VB?

Tell us how to live, how to post, how to surf, macaroni buoy.
