So as i was heading out for a surf this past weekend i noticed the water looked more disgusting than usual and smelled like **** with some sort of algae growth that looked like red tide. I ignored this and surfed for a few hours. A few hours later i became extremely sick with a throbbing headache, vomitting and extreme tiredness. The illness has now passed and i feel fine. Could this of been from the water and has anyone had similar experiences?

What state are you in? Saw a crazy red tide off NJ this weekend while fishing. Usually red tides cause allergy like sickness, sneezing, watery eyes, etc, not vomiting. Who knows though what is out there.

I flush with a netti pot and drop some alcohol/hydrogen peroxide mixture into my ears pretty much after every surf. I haven't had issues since I started doing that. I used to get sinus infections and ear infections like a madman. Pretty sad state of the environment. My kids will be surfing in bubble-boy bubbles if it's not turned around.
