after the recent downpours, the water is suspect again and looks pretty dirty from the kelp beds to the beach. i was up in redondo this past weekend though and the water seemed to be pretty clean and the waves were the best i've seen them there. it definitely rained hard at times during the weekend in LA as well.

i'm trying to figure out where exactly where the source of all the major runoff is. i know there's pipes that drain into the sea everywhere but certainly some places are filthier than others. i know the tijuana river dumps its crap in IB and the san diego river empties out in OB... and as i was driving down to SD this morning the water was still pretty sketch around oceanside and camp pendleton.

where are the cleanest places to surf after rain between SD and LA?

I surfed Newport Beach this morning, was pretty fun, water quality was alright, I was down by 36th street. Just dont surf close to runoffs and if your a healthy, you should be fine, just got to be careful. Don't swallow the water. I would say the cleanest water between SD and LA, is probably Trestles area. Hope that helps

Either go to Trestles or Salt Creek. The best is going to be Trestles! I wouldnt waste your time with anything else. Water quality at trestles will be better too. If you speed on the freeways you have to always be on the look out around here. I might come down to trestles this week. See you out there!:D
