SI says 37, buoy says 49.7 F. Who should I believe?

    where do you live?
Look at the station data map to see the buoys nearby.

In Delaware, the offshore buoy says 40 degrees, but the coastal buoys are in the mid 30's.

Nevermind, i see your from NJ. The buoy 44065 is reporting 37 degrees, and I think that is what Swellinfo is using (I would have to check). That sounds about right. You are probably looking at buoy 44066, which is very far offshore and influenced by the gulf stream.

NOAA's 53.1 water temp for VA Beach is not right, unless that buoy's out in the Gulf Stream. It's located 64 miles east of VB. Water temps have been 38-39 closer to shore.

I guessed it to be about 35 yesterday in Monmouth County... I think snowmelt makes the water temp drop in the surf zone, so the buoys are gonna be off.

Every single degree below 45 makes a huge difference. Even more so under 40......the water is ****ing freeeeeezing this year.

62 miles from rudee to the Norfolk Canyon, the gulf stream usually hugs the canyon, though it is constantly moving around. So, yes. It's cold as sh*t right now in vb.
