77-79 degrees in NJ today????? I haven't been out since the weekend and it wasn't quite that warm but man that is some warm water. My brother was out yesterday said the stingrays are back in flocks. I remember almost 6 years ago giving surf lessons in jersey for my buddies surf school in warm water like that with rays everywhere and a 6 ft shark took a bite out of one of the rays within 10 feet of me. Very comforting.

I guess my question is what's everyone's favorite water temp??? I know there's a slogan by sam hammer in Jersey that 'Life's better in a 5 mil' and I see where he's coming from. Had the best session of my life this past winter on also maybe the coldest day I've ever surfed. 18degree air with worse wind chill and water in the low/mid 40s but perfect chest/head high peelers. Had to get out when i couldn't properly move my lips when talking. I think thats considered hypothermia. But whats your favorite? I''m a big fan of the hurricane season in a 3 or 4 mil and I actually prefer to surf in a 3 mil rather than boardies. I'll put up with the frigid winter temps for days like that though.

    Around 57 or 58.

3/2 full... no boots or gloves. Keeps the crowd down, and you never get cold.... or hot.

I like 78, not to cool, not too hot. It's about 83 right now.

78 sounds pretty damn good, but packed crowded beaches do NOT!!

fall is my favorite time, even more than spring, since spring its getting warmer everyday right before the summer flatspell, while fall is still decently warm in September and ur good in a 3/2 til mid November, then u have winter which is the best time of year.i wish it would stay cold forever,i need to move to Alaska.

the only good day in summer I have ever experienced was like 2 years ago in early august,we had a freak low pressure system that delivered the goods.it was better than any hurricane swell.but that's like a 1 in 15 year scenario.hurricane bill was cool, but the surf wasn't great.it was big but super inconsistent and lots of closeouts,il take a low anyday

The buoy is reading 76 degrees in Monmouth, I think Manasquan had 76 degrees today on the little signs they have on each of the beaches.

I went for an hour long swim and just got home. Too flat for surfing. Water felt nice. Even my best friend from Northern California trunked it today. He usually wears at least a Spring suit almost always when surfing.
