Water temp

    Ambrose light has the temp at 48.Seems kind of high for this time of year.Did surf yesterday in a 4/3 yesterday and it really wasn't too bad.

    a lot depends on where the sensor is located...if it's near the surface, the temp is going to be distorted b/c the surface water is warmer b/c of the sun beating down on it & warming it up.
    some sensors are in fairly deep water, about 15ft down, so they'll be colder than some others.
    since we as surfers are mostly concerned w/ surface temps, run w/ it. i'm figuring an average temp here in oc of about 45. that's about on par for this time of year.

    I heard that it was 48 to. It would be nice though if the water stayed in the 70's year round.:D

    Oh god me too. 70s year round sounds orgasmic. I could go out in just board shorts year round. **** if it was 65+, and decent air temperature I could deal with just board shorts. And it's been an above average week so the ocean temps should have gone up a little bit. The temps were still in the upper 40s late April last year, and probably the year before that in Jersey. All those cold Springs with May highs all of about 52 degrees. Gross.
