does anyone know for real? I'm playing hookie on Thursday in Monmouth country NJ and would like to know which suit to pack. got a 5.4, 5.0 or a 3.2 to pick. Booties and hood with all of course.
The 5.4 is the no brainer but so heavy--would def like to go lighter.

south winds and swell cause upwelling here, which makes the water colder. Seems counter-intuitive, but its true.

Once you're cold, you're cold. It's easier to "cool off" than "warm up" in cold water.

I went out a week ago with 4/3 Hood, boots, gloves, got "chilly" after 90 mins. Went out the other day with 5/4 and was "on the warm side" but comfortable.

When your body is cold you burn significantly more energy trying to stay warm.

Wrong suit + cold water = poor surfing
