Funny you mentioned that. I was thinking the same thing. But not that they are off, it is just that the local forecast just does not line up with the wave model. I check another sites marine forecast (weatherunderground.com) and average the two, it is the most accurate way I have found so far to pin point what to count on and what not to. >>>as far as winds and swell.<<< Of course nothing is perfect, I have checked four different sites sometimes to find they all got it wrong. But this time I think the best bet is just to count on Tues. for something rather then Monday. i know the buoy off the coast has been out of the e/ese/se/s/ssw? It is whipping up some here in OC. Even though the wave model does not show the winds starting until Monday. But south of us buoy is showing S, wind swell direction. weatherunderground.com is calling for gust to 35 tonight into the morning. Switching ssw early morning. Local buoy is 15b to 20 s/ssw/ Ok, lot of information. Point is it gives you some ideas of what to count on locally. My best guess is that there will be a ridable wave somewhere on Monday, it is just that you will have to know where to look due to the winds being in question. Who knows? May have to wait for the tides to help as well. Best bet may be Delaware, for the most clean wave. Current in OC, although some of these ssw wind swells can produce a semi clean wave when you least expect them to. But only one spot to really think about there, if it even was working, which if it was there would be no space for anyone, since the local groms control it. Anyway, could and should be fun, somehow somewhere, remember, air temps in the 60's. who cares and a little rain? 60's air temp, and wind swell, equal some fun if you can find the right spot. no wave casting model will ever be perfect, and swellinfo, as well as most of the others do a really good job at it. The best way to predict, in my opinion, is to take these models and apply them to your local breaks (i.e geography/tides/swell direction/wind, etc) and can usually get a solid report, although the best way to tell what its like it to paddle out
yep, you were right. The new wave maps were not being updated all day (Sunday) even though the times were changing. I have found the error and it is being fixed now. Should be fixed by 11:00pm. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
