This is not a troll. This is not a joke. Someone just walked into an establishment I am in. I was on my cell phone. He walked up and dropped a little piece of paper in front of me, said "this is my story"... It was about jesus, and the bible and everything.. No big deal, not even sure why I kept reading, but it was about him being in prison..... Anyway, I get to the back of the little blue paper, and it is a believers fellowship in Florida.... And the guy's name is Wayne. I won't put the last name on here. But on the real. Bro, did you and I just actually meet? Or was this another Wayne, from Florida? Your people aren't out of Lakeland though, are they? Crazy... I feel like I am in an alternate universe. Because a guy named Wayne, from a christian fellowship in Florida just walked slam up to me and dropped me a little "You should go read the bible" thing..... WTF just happened? This is real as Volcom by the way. Legit.
Oh, you'll name his name!! You know, sometimes I think of joining a cult or something, ya know? What the hell.............. Hey Zach are there any hippy communes that you know of out in Cullyfornia, especially up north? I think I need to leave New Jersey. Too many Italians around here.
man you need to come to da south and drink some 40z with me and and shoot some piers with me bro, not many Italians here bo. many you can bring some kassers vodka down and we tag team some hindus.
Know a few up north, but you would have to be willing to "Harvest" with the rest of the troops in the fall. Wear gloves. The first place I ever lived in San Diego was an old nudist colony with hidden passages and trap doors in all the rooms. Torre Del Mar. That's kind of like a hippy commune. And its in south ob, so that whole place is like a big hippy commune. http://www.apartmentsearch.com/apartments/california/san-diego/torre-del-mar-apartments/ Damnit... START TALKING ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA! I keep taking the bait!
how the **** can people even afford 1000 a month rent i work 3 jobs and cant even afford that.. do people get paid more in Cali? i think san frans min wage is like 12? one of the highest in the country if im not mistaken.
Jobs pay a LOT more out there. A G a month is nothing to live at that location. It overlooks my favorite reef break out there. Its worth every penny. Remember, my bartenders working for me out there were pulling 300-500 a night, EASY and there is no off season. You can work 3 nights a week out there and get by, at a beach front apt. See the other thread, about happiness and life and all that mess. You can't put a price on being able to suit up, and walk down the stairs behind your crib into one of the better spots in the country..... Cliffside San Diego Apartment: $1000 Airfair to San Diego: $400 Waking up every morning and looking out at Peskys? Priceless. #mastercard
But yeah, wages out there are higher across the board. Servers and Bartenders all get $8.00 per hour, plus all their ridiculous tips. I only had to pay my staff in SC $2 an hour. BIIIIIG difference.
wtf your kidding me servers making 8 an hour? that is unheard of here, ive worked as a line cook before and they start off at about 9-12 here it seems. so i bet out there they make..what around 15 to start? i mean if the jobs out there pay that much more it makes me believe that moving out there would be a struggle but less of one than i thought if your not trying to pay 1000$ a month on 10 per hour.
Yeah don't believe the anti-hype of "everything is so expensive out there". Its all relative and most of those arguments come from people that chose to never go there. Yes, a decent line cook, one that doesn't even speak english can grab $14-$15 an hour. Easy. The going rate, 10 years ago, through temp agencies, who will find you jobs doing whatever, was about $13-$16 an hour to start. Exec assistants. I put together slot machine in a warehouse by myself for a few weeks when I first moved there. It paid like $17 an hour. I was in restaurant management most of my time out there. Before my wife got her culinary degree, she worked at a little cafe in OB from 9am - 3pm 4 times a week. Even in the winter, the MINIMUM she would come with, in cash was $200. On a good day $500. Every day. All year. And she was clocking $8 an hour, getting a check once a week. My wife was making like $60k a year, working barely over 20 hours. It was a joke. Yeah, I didnt own a home, but I lived on the ocean, had nice cars, went out to eat every night. Bought surfboards like it was nothing. If you are not a lazy as$, you will struggle a few months, and then its all downhill from there. Guys working at the damn weed shops were clocking $15 an hour, smoking herb all day.
If Florida CPS shows up at your door with a subpoena, then yah, it was the SI Mutant Freak himself waynetheinsaaaaaaaaane.
In Charleston, $1k a month is typical rate for an apartment. I was paying 50% more than that just to rent a very small house. And the pay here is no where near as much as in Cali. It isn't cheap to live in any popular coastal area anymore.
Yeah, and the hotels are ridiculous up there. There is nothing in the downtown area for less than 3 bills. Its all those historic inns and stuff. Thats why I only be taking day trips up there. The cost of living down here on Hilton Head is not as bad as Charleston. First condo I rented down here was a 1500sq foot, 3 bedroom, 3 bath for $1050. 1/4 mile from the beach. Wasn't bad. Its expensive as hell to VISIT here, but not really to live. I took a job and I negotiated the same pay as I was getting on the wet coast before I moved here, and that money went plenty far here. My wife didn't work at all and I was able to clear all the bills and bank some of it. I was able to buy a house and new 2 cars all in 1 year of living back east. So, with me making the same amount out west, my wife was clocking serious cash out there too, we were always just living comfortably, but never getting ahead. Never really saving a lot. We spent a lot, lived well, ate out like I said. But it would have taken me another 5-7 years to get my ducks in a row and buy a house 15 miles inland out there. So anyway, I think that all the beach towns on the east coast are a little heavier with regards to cost of living than other metro east coast areas, but it's no where near as bad as anywhere on the west coast. Its actually really tough living by the ocean on the east coast. I spent years out west, analyzing real estate back east, looking at the job markets, schools. There are really only four places along the entire east coast from Jersey to Florida that have big enough economies, affordable housing etc. to actually take a calculated risk and move there. Those areas are Jersey Shore/AC area, Virginia Beach/Norfolk and then Wilmington, NC and Charleston. Everywhere else just has expensive housing, no jobs and just general high costs of living with a lot of risk. VB has a lot of affordable housing and a good job market. Charleston has a great job market, but its expensive. Wilmington has TONS of affordability. VB, all in all, if you are just analyzing a place to live by the beach and have everything else you want was where all my research points... Ended up having opportunities down here, but had that not happened, I probably would have eventually posted up in VB. Few hours from the families and all that.
I am getting weirded out right now. I really think I met Wayne yesterday. And I am still alive, and not in captivity. I didn't even start this thread to be a di**. The possibilities of this just being a coincidence are slim to none. I mean, how many waynes, from Florida are walking around from a christian "fellowship" handing out notes to encourage people to read the Bible..... This guy had a picture of a Harley Davidson on the front of his propaganda though, I thought for sure that our Wayne would have a surf board on his materials. I know our Wayne actually posted his facebook info and links to who he really was. I never looked at it, but I think he did that. The guy that solicited me did not look like a surfer. My Savior's lack of response is making matter worse. I keep looking out the window. No vans anywhere. When I was walking through the parking lot last night, I had my head on a swivel. Where is it I thought? I know there is a van in this parking lot, with surfboards stacked to the sky on top. Nothing though. Wayne is taking his show on the road my dudes. Coming to a beach town near you.
