I suppose anyone of those guys can be the best surfer on any given day, but Mason is just about the last guy I'd pick assuming the contest is held in true Bells surf. I'd be looking for a powerful flowing surfer who can connect big turns with a real rail game.
I like Bells when it's huge. Mason rips, but so do the rest of the WSL cats. Who knows. JJF has a pretty nice rail game btw.
Is anyone else tired of seeing matty wilko do the same turn over and over again? Only to get serious praise for it EVERY TIME!
ummm, let's talk strategy after the contest starts! j/k. I had to make an update to my team yesterday. I sorta agree with Mitchell. He is fun to watch....although I don't like when he rides huge guns a pipe and everyone seems to be on step ups. But hey, I'm at the bottom after first contest so who knows. Good luck!
Kind of want to get rid of Medina cause he's so $$ Also what's up with Stu Kennedy never really heard or seen much from him..threat for the year? Or just Snapper spoiler?
This is probably the least entertaining wave on tour. Hopefully they run it at the box, againe. That schit was solid! Money is on DeSouza, Nat Young or Wilco.
Bells is an amazing wave, how could it be anything but entertaining, provided good conditions of course.
There's not much swell forecasted. 2-3 foot faces in am I think 4-6 foot faces in the late afternoon on day one, and no huge swell so far in waiting period. With Filipe being hurt and mick not really caring I am kind of stressing my lineup. Those two were my locks last two seasons.
Rio is the least entertaining. There has to be at least 20 breaks in Brazil that put Rio to shame. I don't know where those spots are, but that's a lot of coastline. Ps I only surfed Rio when I was there, ha.
Doug...haven't seen you in water by me in a long time. But ya rio sucks. I thought keramas was a great comp a few years ago. The mad Huey's do one there and the waves always look great
Yo Matt! Hope all is well! I surfed that same spot a couple times in the fall, and once in the winter. Also a couple times just north of there. It's usually bigger by me. I like that spot by you though because it breaks heavy, hollow, and close to shore. Keramas blows Rio away! That place is mental! I thought the contest they held there was very good, and I was surprised to see it removed from the tour.
I agree Rio is my least favorite event, total snooze fest. Lowers is a way better high performance wave & it at least gets bigger than 4ft. Rio is like watching the worlds best surf summer 4ft mush out here on the EC. I like Bells, I think it's pretty entertaining & I would love to surf there one day.
