but you neglected to use the word "wave"... :p

this year is actually a LOT more active than previous few years, but not as active as the GC was when I was growing up down in Naples.
I was able to surf decent waves on a weekly basis, starting around mid oct/early nov and usually lasting well into spring with usually one good final front to mark the end of the season (around april/may).
summer would produce at least 1 swell a month, but I would travel east and almost guaranteed to catch waves every wknd.

the cameras are ok, but the brackets and such are of such weak design they actually ship spares in the box.
someone in St Pete got one for xmas and the very first day out he broke the bracket for the headcam.

    camera

Just got the GoPro wrist camera... ordered it yesterday at 10am it was on my doorstep before I woke up this morning... that's what I call shipping lol. It seems like a decent little camera.. cant wait to try it out this evening or tomorrow morning. As the surf goes it will be big and chunky/choppy. And hey johnnytoobad there are a lot better places and better breaks than just twin piers and coquina, less crowded too unless its epic. Such as just a half a mile north or south of what used to be the bradenton beach pier. There is a spot in between twin piers and bradenton beach where the waves just peel!! down the beach ;)

    El Nino

I just read they occur every 2 to 7 years and can last up to a year. So I am thinking no it cant happen but who knows. But I do know that el nino really kills the hurricane season.
We didnt have any major storms this year except for in November with that nice swell we got for a few days but that was it. Worst summer ever.... thanks... El Nino lol. The El Nino is making up for the worst summer ever by giving us surf every weekend this winter, so that's good.

i gotcha.. ya it looks like its picking up a little on the cam.. but super choppy.. that wind is cranking.. there could be a short possible clean up right after the rain right before dark.. but I think we will hit it tommorow am early.. the wind might be lighter then. Def big chunky surf all day tommorow. hey johnny wat websites do you use for getting ur surf info?

swell info, surfline, surf - forecast, magicseaweed, and gulfster, for his am report and pic...allthough i rely mostly on my keen sense of atmospheric pressure. jk...there was def 3 ft waves comin off the pier as early as 9 today.....so gulfster caters to the "only if its head high crowd"

lol thats funny.. ya ur right about gulfster though.. sometimes you cant trust that report.ya i use those sites too.. you should check out aurasurf.com , hes got a good report page and 75% or more of the time he is right on forecasting 3 to 5 days out.. theres also lennyssurfshop.com which has a nice high quality surf cam, those two are based in ST Petey but close enough to here to get an idea of how it is on are beaches.. most of the time its bigger here anyways
