As air rises, moisture that can be held by the air decreases as elevation increases(air runs into colder air) causing excessive moisture to be released by the clouds. Same concept as a thunderstorm, rising air.
Its a local phenomena created by condos in close proximity arranged in a crescent pattern. Farthest away from the beach is at the center of the cluster, like a parabola. Towering over 250' from the dunes, when the wind gets over 20 knots out of the east, it creates a vortex like the Bermuda Triangle. No forecasts will mention this due to Da Hui's Florida affiliates.
And again, please answer my questions, truthfully S.H.! I really like to know who I'm dealing with before I waste my time and energy.
I'm 456 years old. I'm a vampire. I'm a Scorpio. I enjoy long walks in the park(at night of course) and candlelight dinners while listening to michael bolton and kenny G.
Ok. It's "You're". 5th grade English once again. I'd drop in on you all day. I know how to punch out a surfers legs really well on my bodyboard. A little grab on the back of their leg and down they go! It's a mastered art. It's called the "boogie chop". I use it quite often at my local breaks. Also, I love doing a 360 and then sticking my legs out to trip them. Quite hilarious and fun!
Maybe I've missed something in this loooong and oh-so-informative thread, but there are several other equations to be considered besides buoys, wind patterns, swell angles and intervals. Namely, coastal angles, tides and the biggest one of all: bathymetry. These, more than other factors, define why some beaches are flat and onshore while others are glassy and rideable.
Definitely, but once you understand those factors and how they apply to your "home break", it all about the buoy, swell angle, swell interval etc... Basically everything that a buoy will tell you... Every break is different with regards to how that data is applied. I think that is the part of this whole conversation that keeps getting overlooked... I can walk to the NE end of the island and it will be 3 feet and I can go 5 miles south and it will be flat.... Just because a buoy is XX @ XX doesn't just generally tell anyone how big the surf will be, but as I mentioned about 11 pages ago on this thread, its all about the local knowledge... As I previously stated, the reason SI has been so on point lately, is because it has properly predicted the BUOY DATA, not the surf heights etc... The example I used, was the 1.3 ft @ 8 seconds from 111 degrees (ESE) with variable wind speeds of 7-9 knots out of the direct east, with a tide rising, 2.5 hours before the high tide... That is all I need to know... for MY SPOT.... All of those numbers, if macthed 100 times in a row, will produce the same waist high conditions with slight chop at Burkes Beach... Every single time.... So back to my original point, I am not saying that SI will always give the right "wave height" forecast... I KNOW what those numbers translate into at MY SPOT. It will be completely different a few miles away.... The best surfers I have ever known, ONLY looked at buoy data. Because they knew how it applied to the local coast line. I've been woken up at 3am by a Navy Seal telling me that Calafia in Baja was going to be as big as its been in 15 years... Driving down the coastline, things did look that big, but when you get to the spot, it was massive... Its all about knowing HOW to apply the buoy data....
So with that being said, Micah's site said it was going to be 1.3 @ 8 seconds out of the ESE with light onshore flow out of the E 7 days prior to my session... When it was time to go out there, I checked the Buoy and it was EXACTLY that... which is why this thread was started... To pat the guy on the back, because his system has been working very well. Surfline and MSW NEVER identified the 8 seconds period that was going to show. They had the forecast as .4 ft @ 4 seconds all week and never saw it coming. They predicted DEAD FLAT and even the "Report" at the time said it was flat on the other sites... So again, my point was lost in this garbage of a thread... Well done Micah... You math outsmarted the other guys math and produce the correct figures.
I'm overall very happy w/ SI...MSW's garbage imo, almost insulting, and surflies just doesn't care about the EC, which I get, they're a West Coast site...the one thing I considered better/more detailed, specifically for NE, were Dave M's weekly forecasts on NEsurf, which were super comprehensive in terms of weather pattern stuff. Which they don't do anymore. But all in all, SI is a fantastic resource.
Sounds like somebody needs a friend. You have the psyche of a 4th grader, transparent and predictable.
Doesn't take much these days. I hope the Big Brothers use their power for good and prevent this place from turning into a toxic waste dump.
IDK, he's a booger and booggers stick together. For all we know it's Micah or one of his friends stirring things up to create more traffic. No PBJ / SJB around anymore, so someones gotta do it...
Yeah, funny how a repost of the exact text that got us all in trouble led to nothing this time.... wait for it.... double standard?
I made it to page 2... BFOTY, that's your nomination shark. Big Fan of the Year Interesting movie as well...
