I know fukishima is old news, but does anyone know the effects that radiation is having on the west coast? Someone urged me to watch this after I shared with them I was visiting the pacific soon. Are any surfers on the west coast concerned with this issue, or just find it to be a bogus attempt to frighten people? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WiBVBdM77s4

This is something to be worried about in the pacific, when you are closer to Asia. I don't see it spreading to HI or CA/OR/WA so soon. I wouldn't fear swimming in US waters, but I would be cautious when buying pacific seafood. Most of the radiation released from this accident has a very short half-life.

This one has parts from the link you posted, that I also posted a week ago. It's a bit long and the first half just breaks down happened, but the second half reveals more about the effects:

Personally I'm pretty skeptical about going anywhere on the pacific now. It's heartbreaking, I was seriously considering moving to a pacific location.
Brew, did you watch that vid? Check the last half of my link too, it doesn't really seem to be all good IMO .

I'm not going to worry about it at all. A lot of people have asked/told me to stay out of the water, but I'm not going to let a little radiation stop me! I'll keep you updated on the cancer and mutation status, most likely won't happen for a while though.

I watched the videos, but they lack detailed data. I am not worried about the water in California. Guam may be. Questionable in the near future.

Here are a couple articles that aren't super recent about about the situation, but I highly recommend for everyone, everywhere. It's a serious and lengthly read without the mention of tubes, titties, or tube steaks........but hey, life ain't all gravy so stop pretending and read it!

The situation is out of control and gotten incrementally worse since day one despite the continuous downplay by certain media groups. If it were contained after the first day it would still be an international disaster, but Fukushima has been spewing 300-400 tons a day of highly radioactive waste directly into the Pacific Ocean for two and a half years!!! Not just cesium137. That does not include what's seeping into the ground, what's being released into the air, or what's evaporated and carried across the Pacific. Tokyo (population 39million, capitol of Japan) is not safe for human inhabitation because of radiation, but where do you tell 39million near future cancer patients to go? Any Japanese import is a big exposure risk (including cars and their parts). I have a Toyota btw. Anyone hear about Bed Bath and Beyond refusing a radiation laden shipment? Probably not.

I don't want to push negative stuff on people, but I'd be a turd to keep this to myself.

I don't doubt that it is a bad situation in Japan. I just haven't seen any data that shows dangerous radiation levels in US waters. There are plenty of websites like global research claiming the sky is falling. Btw, I would take articles on there with a grain of salt. The data I have seen shows some material making it to the US years from now, but dispersion keeps the levels fairly low.

Throw me some links. I'm open to what ever is real.

I hope you would agree TEPCO hasn't been forthcoming about their status at any point and the situation has always been out of their control. The cesium 137 is of many radioactive components being released. The cesium has a short half life (so no worries some say) while ignoring all the rest like plutonium. There is also a lack of acknowledgment about the large quantities of plutonium stored at Fukushima that have been compromised.

    Nope.... looks like we're fine.

Wow... Global Research is doing remarkable work. The majority of sources cited in those articles were from... Global Research!!

What a bogus, boogey-man raising, piece of sh*t excuse for journalism. Notice the scare tactic of the graph that shows 750 RADs of radiation reaching the West Coast in the 10 day 'area,' and 1500 in the 6 day zone, which included Alaska? There's no definition of whether that dose is over those days, or arriving in that time. Additionally, none of those graphs are referenced in the article, which nearly always means that they are just.... scary pictures.

FYI, 750 RAD's will kill you in one day, and 1-200 will cause acute radiation syndrome; according to that graph, no matter how you interpret it, every single person living in the Aleutian islands is now suffering from severe ARS or is dead. Maybe that's what happened to our sole Alaskan tidal bore surfing dude....

I have no doubt that the moneyed multinational interests poison us all on a daily basis without remorse, and that this is being hidden in plain site. But shoddy 'journalism' or 'research' (INFOTAINMENT) like this does nothing to further the truth.

Basically , I can't find anything legit that says Fukushima isn't many times worse than Chernobyl. All of that **** is coming this way via weather, jet stream, and ocean currents with ease. How long does it take for a low pressure from Japan to get to the Pacific NW? How long would it take to float a raft from Japan to NorCal? Certainly not 4 years. Since this hypothetical raft (radiation) is not one, but many, a two and a half year train of "rafts" if you will, the consequence seems obviously profound.......... To me at least.

Global research is something I only came across today and by no means is my only source of information. It seemed like good unbiased info, but wtf do I know. I thought sources like cnn, nbc, abc were the bad ones, where did Global Research blow it?

I certainly didn't or wouldn't draw conclusions based on information from a single source. I don't know why anyone would f around and bs about something like that. I want Fukushima to be no worries too but again, wtf do I know.

Please post the links I was unable to find relating to the insignificance of Fukushima, their sources, and what makes them legit.

This is the author of the first article: http://www.claritypress.com/LendmanII.html

Hardly qualified to report on scientific data related to Fukushima. He usually sticks to stories about walstreet taking over the world. No one is saying the disaster is no big deal. We are only saying sites like global research make money by attracting an audience using fear. There is no verifiable scientific data on those articles.

Thre's some new info about how a lot of this damage could have been prevented by having a back up power source for reactor coolant, and the 100+ton storage tanks that aren't sealed properly. Every time I see the tsunami footage, I'm amazed at how rideable that wave was.

Hey brew, thanks for the links. I read them all, and thank you for being patient with me. I read so much yesterday about this and Portugal (many hours). I'm gonna take a breakish for now on looking for new info, but by all means if you or anyone else finds/hears anything about it, please share.
