A few years back i went on a trip to the bvi's . I think there were 9 or 10 of us on a mooring 52 power cat . We powered around the the bvi's for 2 weeks . Got to kite for 10 of those 14 days and surfed apples bay for few days , and few other spots . Also surfed one of the most mellowest right breaking waves i have ever surfed . It was on the west side of anegada . We anchored right in the channel next to the break for like 2 days and surfed/kited it .Woke up every morning to see this wave peel right down the reef . it was surreal . One morning after a night of many rum drinks , i had to jump in the water to clear the noggin . Well when i hit the water jumping off the boat . i opened my eyes to see a 6 ft barracuda staring right at me with 3 in teeth . I jumped out of that water so fast i don't think i even got wet . My buddies in tears laughing , as I'm white as a ghost mumbling bar bara barracuda . Well anyways we wanted to stay some more but had to head to necker island for the bvi kite jam . Which was a blast . So I'm left unfulfilled about that inland . i wanted to explore that islands reef some more . Everyday i was suckered further away from the boat down the reef , because it looked so good down the reef . As for isolation and privacy that was the spot . And the wave was not to bad itself . Have any others here ever surf this place ? Im dying to get back out there and explore a few more spots , stay on the boat at night , hit the island in the day . and just live it up . love to hear some insight from the si crew abbot anegada . thx
too much has already been said. one of the mods need to delete this tread immediately. for the love of all things holy please don't let this place get molested. DO THE RIGHT THING MODS!!!

surfed josiahs bay (tortola) on super fun, chest high day. saw what looked to be a reef pass setup with a nice left near necker on my way to the bitter end. i never got close tho. did not make it to anegada either
if you can get there then go . its not like you can hop in a car and drive there my amigo . most are too lazy or its way too expensive to make that trip .It takes some planning . Its in the middle of an ocean . Your giving me **** because I'm asking if anyone else surfed there on a surf forum . The bvi's are not some secret spot . Its been blown up for many many years . Get over it .
That break next to necker wasn't breaking fulling when i saw it . Looked like it had potential . Snorkeled around necker islands reef thou . It was mixture of reef , sand , rocks , and few boats that sank . Bitters end was different with all the boats morning up next to each swaying back and forth in the tide change . Crazy fun expensive trip . And I'm still bummed i can't find jerked chicken like i did on tortola .
Thanks for sharing your stoke. I used to cruise a southern cross 28 around the Bahamas, sounds like a good setup. Very few places you can safely anchor a sailboat and paddle to the break.
I surfed West End about 30 years ago. It looked nothing like that then. But then again, maybe I wasn't at West End... not sure. The place I surfed was a long, sketchy paddle over reef out to a cloudbreak right that we were told was loaded with sharks. It wasn't very clean, but super fast and sectiony and super hollow. Maybe the spot has filled in with sand... maybe the reef is gone now... or maybe I just didn't know where the heck I was. But it looked nothing like that video.
lbcrew that right your talking aboot . Did it have a busted old shack near by ? If so , yeah its real fishy there . Thats where i ran into being face to face with that barracuda . Scared the poo out of me , kept me feet up on the board after that . As for the wave , It was a right that had some nice sections ,real shifty on sets , but never really got too hollow thou, maybe swell direction or i got a swell that was backing off . One thing i do remember clearly is that , that reef was something you did not want to introduce yourself too . Urchin nightmare . They were thick . We counted 25 spines in my buddy's foot just from one urchin . My buddies wife tried to get a few out while 4 of us tried to held him down . Not fun . Glad it happened at the end of the trip .
