Wanted to hear everyone's wetsuit quiver...list your surf state, thickness and quantity of each thickness. Couldn't find a thread directly related to this topic either.

    Me:
    New York
    (1) 6/5/4 hooded
    (1) 4/3
    (1) 3/2
    (2) spring suits

Two winter suits would be optimal for dry second sessions. Contemplating on getting a 5/4/3 to complete my arsenal of rubber.

Awesome. The amp is super warm and comfortable. this is my....2nd, wow maybe 3rd year with it and haven't had a problem besides the visor on the hood came off but thats not really a problem. Never really cold, the hood sometimes flushes though. The gloves are awesome, only $20. But there's two different typed of gloves they have, so make sure you get the ones with the mesh skin rubber on the outside, not the all neoprene one ( they say it's there most high performance glove, but the glove gets so saturated and heavy, which leads to making your hands cold).

    Pretty much all O'neill....

3.5/2.5 PsychoFreak - takes me from 50 down to the early 30s. It hasn't gotten too cold for this suit here in VA.

2mm Guru (short sleeve full suit) - mid 60s to about 60, then it gets layered with a 1mm longsleeve top. That'll take me down to 50.

2mm Hammer tank-topped shorty - for the two weeks in spring that the water is below 60 and the air is 75 or above....or I layer it with the 1mm longsleeve in the fall, when the water's still a little above 60, but there's a cold snap in the air.

7mm XCEL Infinity Drylock booties - go on when the PsychoFreak does and takes me through winter.
    3mm O'neill Ninjas - when it get's less than 60 until about 50.

3mm Psycho 5-finger gloves - goes on when the PsychoFeak does and takes me through winter.

2mm Guru hood that never gets used.
2mm Sport cap - takes me through the entire winter (exposed neck keeps me from overheating).

I have yet to miss out on a board or surftrip because of my wetsuits.

    5/4/3 rip curl f-bomb

    4/3 f-bomb
    4/3 e-bomb

    3/2 e-bomb
    3/2 e-bomb pro

2/2 e-bomb pro short sleeve full

1mil e-bomb pro long sleeve top

    1mil rip curl vest

i've thought about picking up another 5/4, but i just don't get in the water enough to justify having a second. i surf a lot more in the fall & spring when there's more light, so having a back up 4/3 & 3/2 makes more sense. & when it's warm enough to wear the long sleeve full or top, i don't mind putting on a damp suit so much.

i'm looking to add a long sleeve spring again soon. busted the zipper on mine in the fall.

    5/4 oneill mutant
    3/2 oneill psycho II

west 7mm boots, oneill 5mm fingered gloves

oneill mutant 3mm boots, oneill psychofreak 3mm gloves

    all about 2 seasons old

I haven't owned a 4/3 in many years... because of $$ issues i had to cut a suit from my quiver a while back, and i found that when the water is in that middle range i can either just be chilly in the 3/2, or hot in the 5/4

interesting theory...i was pondering that a while back & decided that if i really had to, i could lose the 5/4/3 & the 3/2 & have a 1 wetsuit quiver of just the 4/3. but i think i agree that if i had a 3/2 & a 5/4, then a 4/3 isn't REALLY necessary...it just kind of nicely fills that gap when the water's too chilly to be fully comfortable in a 3/2 or is too warm to be really solid in a 5/4.

    oh, & boots/gloves/hood/etc...

5mil o'neill heat round-toes (i just rock socks underneath in the dead of winter instead of 7mils)
(looking for new 3mil boots for the spring...taking suggestions)

    5mil rip curl f-bomb 5-fingers
    3mil rip curl f-bomb 5-fingers
    1.5mil xcel gloves

    o'neill squid lid cap
rip curl hooded vest (for under the 4/3)

3.5/2.5m Oneill Pyscho Freak - Winter

    3/2m Quicky Cell 6 - Spring/Fall

    boardshorts - summer

Booties = a 5 year old pair of Oneill 3 mill booties for surfing shallow slab reefs. I use them about 4 times per year in la jolla only. never break them out at my local reefs. They are waaaay deeper. only need em up in LJ.

    Hood/gloves = NONE.

    guess mine was pretty easy.

Hey Ray, are you warm, comfortable or slightly chilly in the 3.5 with water in the low/mid/upper 30's?

Not even slightly chilly. I get tired before I get cold. The other morning it was 38 in the water and the air was 37. I did 2.5 hours and only came out because I'm an aging geezer that paddled out in full rubber after a 3 week flat spell on the wrong board during a moderate offshore wind. I know.....

Like I said, I use a cap throughout winter so I don't overheat. I wouldn't get away with that for very long, however, if the air dipped into the 20s.
