The Ramones loved surf music. You can tell, especially the earlier stuff.
That is from Punk zine. Check out Mutant Monster Beach Party. It's classic.
Did Joey actually surf? He had waves nearby.
I don't think so... just like surf music, and that influenced a lot of their songs.
A good friend of mine one day shows up with this t shirt and says " check it out I had to buy it its joey at rockaway Beach about to paddle out. Street dude on St Marks gave me it for 20 bucks.
It was a black & white pic of a skinny kid with a Howard Stern wig carrying a 90's thruster with a Hurley sticker on it. With the lyrics to Rockaway Beach on it.
Last night the kids down a few houses were jammin. They even brought back some slightly Stoopid. See next post
Strummer was something else, Clampdown is great.
"The only band that matters" Saw them a few times back in the day.
Wow, you saw them?? Respect LB, they were a little before my time.
I saw Big Audio Dynamite II. Does that get me a half a coolness credit?
Full credit Carson
Awesome show too. It was MTV 120 Minutes Tour at Hammerjacks in Baltimore.
BADII, PIL (John Lydon is a NUT CASE) and LIVE. I think Blind Melon might have opened too, but we missed that.
That is really cool Carson. I like PIL a lot. Way underrated and to me, more interesting than the Sex Pistols. Other early stuff sounds heavy but different, and then they almost sounded like world music in the 80's, some stuff reminds me of the Talking Heads. All interesting, all different, and over looked too many times.
smuggled a camera into the venue to get some photographs of PIL. took it apart and put all the parts in different pockets, then put it together in the crowd. Managed to squeeze off a few but it was so dark and I had the wrong speed film in... just a big pink and white blur... LOL
great acoustic version.
