Surf is up, Happy Halloween!
Came upon this band... Sweet Teeth... not to be confused with Sweet Tooth. Really digging their sound... wish I could find out more about them. Here's their BandCamp page.
And here's the song I heard that turned me on:
Cause someone posted that great scene from Heavy Metal. I think this is the song.
I always felt that Don Felder was the underrated Eagle. He is an awesome guitarist
I really DO hate the F'ing Eagles.
I understand the hate. Truly. I didn't realize this was the eagles Don Felder till Manik pointed it out. That combined with digging anything from Joe Walsh has me abiding that the eagles exist.
I couldn't hide my lying eyes if I said I've never run down the road trying to loosen my load while calling to the captain to bring me my wine.
been on a jazz kick for quite a while
I've been known to post Miles Davis links from time to time. Monk, Davis, Parker, Corea... the Golden Age of Jazz, IMO.
HA HA, I wholeheartedly agree about the Eagles. I loved Hotel California as a 13 year old the same as I liked Stairway To Heaven or any other rock epic (FREEBIRD!!), bought the tapes (or stole, 15 tapes for a penny, never paid) and was bummed that most of their other stuff was lame. BUT, Walsh and Felder going back and forth with leads at the end of Hotel California is still great guitar rock, the song Walsh sings at the end of the movie Warriors is a good tune (In The City? or something like that) and the doc about the Eagles is worth watching for all the drugs and groupie action plus rock history. My buddy's sister used to date Glenn Fry back in the 70's, she was a Playboy model and is on the cover in a see through rain coat, and he has some stories. But yeah, over rated and lucky to have Walsh, who is one of my favorite guitarists.
I also dig Jazz quite a bit, just re listened to Bitches Brew from Miles in the summer, what an album.
in semi-full disclosure, i work w/hs kids...early in the mornings. they like a lot of shitty music so i make them listen to what i remember was my middle-school dance type mix music
Kind of Blue and... believe it or not... his work on the soundtrack to Porgy and Bess, which dates back to the '50s!
Who's kids Lefty? You have me curious.
Miles is a genius. His autobiography is awesome , although parts were hard to read, he was not very fond of white folks. Malcolm X's autobiography was kinder. And Miles grew up well off, not a ghetto kid. But still a genius. There is a half decent movie about him with Don Cheadle.
gen xers primarily, i think
hey if you want good music check this guy out. He is a friend of mine.
What was on the radio for the whole ride home this morning
Get on your bad motor scooter and ride. Full on rock and roll.
