Im diggin the fcs2 reactors. At slow speeds they are super loose and snappy and at highspeeds the stiffen the board up and hold. Lookin to get performers next.
rasta quad on my 6/4 potatonator. i am just frothing for somebody/anybody to show me something better.
On shortboards, I generally stick to fairly neutral fins so they work pretty much the same way in a variety of conditions. PC-5s in my thrusters, and a combination of PC-5s and PC-3s in my quads. My big wave board has more going on the bottom of the board with some crazy bottom contours, so I've matched it up with the Simon fins, and it works really well. Fish: Foam core bamboo keels, glassed on... a modern tweak on the old school marine ply fish fins. Mini Simmons: Thin, hand-shaped half moon wood keels. For as big as they are, you feel NO drag. Feels finless. Log: 9" Farberow flex fin. Just enough fin for noseriding, and the flex lets you ride the board with a really smooth old school style.
What are your favorite surfboard fins and why???????????? My favorite fins are anything attached to the bottom of my board, 'cause that means I'm getting wet & not sitting at the death desk.
+1... Also...I'm a futures guy and really like the AM template...find most of the other fins I ride that I like are just tweaked versions of it. Also...I like the hexcore/black stix...the lighter the better...and for smaller waves really like an inside foil. However, never tried the K2.1 template...and thinking an upright fin might be something to try out in the future...
currently liking future WCTs on my thruster. They're super upright and snappy. Not the biggest fins, but they're fine for me in up to oh+. Stamps quads on my quad. Also upright fins and turn really well, without sliding out. They're noticeably faster than WCTs...but that's probably due to several factors. Controllers on my ultra-groveler. They're not giant like some keels and they're super swept back, so they cause minimal drag (scraped a rock a few days ago, so now they have even less drag ). If I can generate some speed, they turn o.k.
these rastas i got seem to be working pretty good thb. and the k2 andy irons on my 5,6 rusty are amazing the kill on a 5-6 foot wave.
