Interesting read. Not sure we will ever find the true reason it ended up there.

Sorry to ruin the excitement but that's my jelly donut. I didn't like the flavor so I threw it and I guess it landed on Mars. As quoted from them "like something we've never seen before" it has mold on it you see It just actually got to Mars 4 years later. Imagine how gross it looks now. EW

You can read about the possible reasons for it appearing. There is no way to know for sure without being there. Sadly, we rather dump all our money into wars, so it will be quite some time before we send anyone to Mars.

Ironically, if it wasn't for wars, we may not even have a space program.

I am pretty sure we would have had a space program either way. We just would have seen the space race in the 60's. The space race doesn't mean much now, since interest has dies off and funding has been decreased.

Well, it has been pretty stagnant for the last couple decades, so I think we would still be at the same point today.

There was a news report after the space suits malfunctioned that they were 35 years old. I guess NASA must not have enough money to up grade to at least a 2000 model.

Their budget is very small, and space projects are very expensive. They tend to conserve cash as much as possible. That is why the shuttle program is done.

That and privatization. Every rich muh fugger in the world is a Hans Solo wanna-be with a private space ship.
