Mother Nature can be a cruel and fickle vixen. When she sneers at the surfer and causes the water to look like a glassy lake...what activity is your favorite? I have been doing kick boxing 3 times a week for general conditioning and also some golf once or twice a week.

I guess we all have to have something else to turn to when the waves are not there. What is your favorite option?

I have heard that the chasing tail workout can be exhausting and expensive.

I've surfed 3 times since the end of may. this summer has been the worst for waves up here on Long Island.

The last couple of summers, if there is a ripple in the water, I am in there with my daughters. This Saturday, it was small, but we had a couple of longboards, a soft top and a Beater. I have found the best way to stay in "surfing" shape for the fall and winter swell is to get in the soup as much as possible. If I was flying solo, I doubt I would do it, but it's always fun to get in there with the kids, and it helps with their surfing big time as well (and doesn't hurt mine either.)

The last two weeks have seen some good waves. You need to get to the beach. Now is flat for a few days.

flatspells are normal and that's the price of being a surfer.pipeline is flat too in the summer.i don't even bother checkin the forecasts everyday like I do during the winter.all u have to do is watch the weather on the news.no rain,no low pressures mean no waves.windswells don't count.iv been watchin a lot of surf vids lately, but it makes me mad watching someone do something that iv been waiten to do.meanwhile mexico, australia has had a good run of swell.being an eastcoast surfer sucks, and that's why only 10 out of 10million become pros.

so when its flat,i smoke pot and jump in the pool.when its pumping I smoke pot and walk to the beach.and when im stoned,i smoke more pot lol...I smoke 2 joints in the morning,i smoke 2 joints at night.i smoke 2 joints in the afternoon,it makes me feel alright.i don't get why pot is hated so much when plenty drink alcohol and get waisted and kill some poor kid walkin down the street at 2 am.a kid I went to hs with, got 18yrs for flying drunk down a residential street and killed some poor lady backing out her driveway.dnt drink and drive, dont smoke and fly, drop acid and teleport

wow that's really fantastic for you... but I guess I don't get to the beach enough being that Im the 4th house off from the beach. lol.
the waves on LI have been less than plentiful this summer.

To tie this reply in with cepriano's above post, I always have to make time for basketball. The only thing I smoke is fools like you on the b-ball court.

Paddle, ocean swim, snorkle/free dive/spear fish, kayak, tai chi, yoga, SyFy Channel Sharknado marathons, and of course too much eating, drinking, etc. Bridge jumping and skateboarding are now off the menu. I am planning on hitting the local waterslide park and get thrown out for getting too rad on the slides. (It's a summer tradition) So sad.
