Looks like the dude with priority was too low on the wave face to have enough speed to make it. If he was not making barrels all day, and paddling around me and still taking off that deep, I'd probably start going, too. Photos like this are out of context. You can't really make a judgement based on one pic.
Was that the SUP'er? Can't tell as the pics are pretty small...lame about the drop in but that peak wasn't squaring off in front of the jetty as it was a bit better down the line...I would say he should have just backed off and let the guy get hammered and then watch him float down to AC...so yes...**** move...regardless...it was better 10 yards to the left of the jetty...
yeah it was a sup'er . But he knew how to handle his tanker . He got the longest waves of the day . Rode one from a little north of the jetty all the way in to the inside section about 200 yards in . if the sup didn't drop the ceiling early on the sb , he would have been deep but would have made it . Its all good both knew each other , so it was more of a party wave .
yeooo dude i remember watching that from the lineup i seen it all sup'er paddled into while the guy deeper was pumping to get speed then got cutoff early... where you taking pics there today?
I saw some of that happen too I was in the lineup next to them when they both took off, sup didn't even look definitely a better past the jetty a little bit some good long lefts
Yeah i was there taking some photo's , i should have paddle out but , my back leg was still twitching from yesterday on the kite . Thats the best that spot has broke all winter . Came alive around 3 , 3:30 . Everyone was getting some good ones . And a few drops over the falls too .
^^^^totally agree...looks like we were all in the same place...was definitely fun out there...and solid...
I'm totally not one to drop in... In fact if someone is going I almost always give the benefit of doubt that he is going to make it. BUT I totally agree with the crew here- if he is paddling around all day and not making the waves- I would go!
I was there, saw it first hand in the lineup. The sup didn't even look down the line before he made the drop. I know the shortboarder, he's a local and one of the most chill guys you'll ever meet in the lineup. Dude def dropped in on him, but the shortboarder didn't really care, he just paddled back out for some more.
Words of wisdom. If the guy was taking off deep and making half of his barrels, give hime the benefit of the doubt. If not, ignore him.
he's a stand out at that spot, if you see him with priority and paddling for a wave, he's one to make it and not fall. I'm the jacka$$ that will blow it lol. like I said though, he's super humble and didn't care at all
also, he was happy to get some shots of the sup as he rode behind, both guys know each other. here are some first hand shots from his gopro
Yeah it seemed like a real good vide out there in the water. With the amount of peeps out there everyone seemed to have plenty of sizable ride, Lots of sb's , few spongers and the one sup that i saw . Lots of good waves , Few bombs were rolling in , some were ridin , other landed ride on some heads . Definitly a treat . Most of were skipping back down the beach . Others tried to play it cool , but the stoke was good .
I miss those perfect sand wedges...but not the wetsuit wedgies sh!t looks mad cold, I remember from my 15 winters...brrr...cold think about it
that sequence isnt of me^^ if you have any of any guys regular footed riding the al merrick sb with blue logo and stomp pad that was me if ya got any... pretty cool that some of the guys there were swellinfo guys...newfound respect for everyone there that said they were there on here since every dude i met was real chill and down to earth
