I've been living in Maryland since May but I'll be home in Jersey for Thanksgiving and see there are going to be good waves in the water. Since I've been away, I'm wondering how cold is the water. Do you need a hood, booties, and gloves yet? Thanks.

Right now, gloves and boots are good to have. Hood is optional and it seemed about 50/50 for the other surfers. I was out on Friday and was very comfortable in my sealed/taped 4/3 with 3mm boots and gloves. No hood and I was fine. It was pretty windy on Friday, but I only got cold when I was standing on the beach in my watersoaked wetsuit. Spent about 1.5 hrs in the water. Air temp was about 60 degrees and sunny, but windy. Water temp in high 50's. You can still get by with a high-quality 3/2 suit for another week or so then you'll probably need a 4/3 or 5mm.

I've been wearing a 3/2 up until now, but I'd say its 4/3 time now.

I'd also recommend 3mm boots and gloves. Can get away without gloves for a bit, but my hands have been getting numb the last couple sessions without gloves.

I would suggest a 4/3mm, 3mm booties and if the air temp is cold then put on the 3mm gloves, no hood needed yet. Being toasty is always best.
