i probably would eat it, but i'd try it. ive paddled into waves close to that and have survived it so yeah to people who doubt me, im saying i would get owned, but that wouldnt stop me
Me I am still a kook so I think I would bow down and say its over my limit or if its really clean out ride some scraps on the shoulder. But would deff get some time on the beach watching some folks getting absolutely worked!
This was taken after the big winter storm in February - OC Blizzard 2.6.2010 by Mike Raffael. He labeled it as Unknown Surfer, but someone commented on it, saying it was Vince B. Makes sense. (May not be visible to all, or to anyone)
If it was summer, if it was a right, if I could make it to the line up unscathed, if I could sit on the shoulder picking off the leftovers for a couple of hours, I MIGHT inch over and drop in on something that size. A bunch of ifs and mights for me on this one . Zach, Holy crap that's 6 foot? By that scale the biggest wave I have ever ridden is 3 foot .
Well, I was just speaking in "hawaiian" tough guy surfer terms, cause believe me, I always used to think, I know a basketball hoop is 10 feet high, so if I bottom turn and the face of the wave is that high, then its a 10 footer. Then im at my local beach, looking at surf thats overhead and guys are like, "Yeah thats a solid 4 foot set" and all this... So it depends on who you ask, but generally, when speaking to other surfers I always try and scale down wave heights... I think its more accurate to use larger scales so you can be more precise, but hey, thats just me... And I am in NO WAY saying that the original photo is small, im just saying depending on who you ask, that is a 6-8 footer. Some would argue that its 12-14 ft... Depends on who you ask I guess... I just know that the guys that have been surfing blacks forever and stuff always refer to TOH blacks as, about 10 feet... Im like, uhhhhhhh.... those wave faces look to be about 20 feet to me,... But they are like, wave faces dont count bro! whatever... who knows...
