i walk down 4 flights of stairs and cross like 50 yards of sand into the water...im in everday no matter what. nothing cleanses the soul like the ocean
I grew up 2 hours from the ocean, moved to florida, lived 1 block away. Now Im in rhode island and I have access to about 10 spots about 15 min max from my house. While I enjoyed living within walking distance, I have grown to like solitude and beach communities don't tend have that. Now I can decide where I wanna surf and I have no easy way out. I surf at least 5 times a week in the winter, and Ill go for a swim everyday in the summer. Its a good life, but I will soon be moving to oregon in hopes of finding a little more swell and solitude.
Abouts 17 minutes from my home and a couple minutes with my job.I average about 30-35 sessions a year.Wish I could go more but Im pretty busy.
Live 10 mins from the beach, but the job and its commute really prohibit any surfing during the week, so pretty much a weekend warrior. Worst part is, I usually have a pretty clear view of the ocean as I drive to the ferry in the morning so I know exactly what I am missing.
surf commute is about 20 minutes these days but I am super close to work. I have four times the house that I would be able to afford at "the beach". I go whenever it is good, dawn patrol, after work, whenever. OBX is just over an hour away if I'm feeling frisky.
I live about an hour away, but my moped gets 200 mpg on whiskey piss. So as long as i drink a fifth the night before, the commutes pretty much free. I only go surfing when its double overhead, about two to three times per week in south jersey. If there's no waves, my pet albatross tows me out to the shelf for foil board sessions. Sometimes I spend the night on buoy 44009, which is nice because its only about 25 miles from cape may.
Takes me bout 13 minutes to get to my spot. Living on the gulf, you dont get many waves so I go out for anything from a duck fart to overhead...usually average to paddle out bout 1-2x a week. If I drive to Cocoa,Satellite,Spanish house or Sebastian you can figure around a 2.5-3 hour trip. I do this about once a month since I am a workaholic and cant get away as much as I would like.
Front door to water in about 20 minutes, try to get out about 2x a week. It's funny that 20 minutes for me is still kind of a drag, especially in winter to add time for changing in and out of a wetsuit, but someone always has it worse. I couldn't imagine wanting to surf and being 2 hours away, the anticipation during the drive would kill me.
5 min walk down the block. i surf every day that its waist or bigger. avarage about 4 sessions a week unless the waves blow. love my quiet mornings when its too early for the "pros".
how was everyone's commute today? took me awhile to find a good spot. Most places were big and heavy breaking right on the beach, saw a guy get caught inside and have his board snapped in two at one spot
1:20 mins from new haven, ct get out every time the waves come, ya know? anybody that lives in my area that doesnt mind car pooling let me know
