Well, not exactly a surf trip but i'm going to do my best to spin it into one. I am going out to Del Mar in June for 5 days of work related training. I guess with the location, I will be trying to sneak in some sessions between Windansea and Cardiff reef. Again, I have never been. I first was asking about December timeframe for this zone but things have changed...with this little trip, I doubt I will go there this winter. Sooo, Mid June...still 3/2 it seems. Also, there are a handful of waves in this area. Who has surfed them and what did you think? The left at Del Mar seems like a very convenient option for me although it appears to be a softer wave. Thinking seaside will be the go to depending on the swell.
I've been to that area many times in June. Never needed anything more than a 3/2 although the gloomy foggy mornings make it seem colder than it is. I love the peak at Windansea and it seems like a swell magnet, like Blacks. It seems like its almost always dead calm until mid morning and there's almost always a wave. I like Swamis because i'm a screw foot and its easy to pick off the lefts while all of the natural footers are hassling for the rights. The right has better shape but the left has a nice shape too and walls up long enough even at waist-chest high to get 2-3 really satisfying turns. I'm headed out there (north San Diego) June 2018, but more importantly going to Peru this year.
Thanks Mitchell...Peru sounds epic! Good on'ya! So, no boots? I like the Swamis theory. I will be on the DP or evening sessions with the rest of the rat race so that is a good tip!
Went last year in late June to Porugal. It was not a designated surf trip but i was able to get waves almost evry day. Not macking by any means but head high and clean most of the time. warm in a 3/2. Campervan rentals are super easy and cheap there- highly recommend to all on here. Would be a perfect trip for 3 people, wild camping, surfing, fishing
The whole of Portugal is a wave magnet. Great surf, plus old world Europe makes for an incredible trip. Not to mention it's cheap and light on the tourons.
We agree on something! Id go back in a heartbeat but I really really want to explore the Azores, that place looks like fire
I've been to the Azores and had a blast. Maybe the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life? I didn't score the biggest waves ever but size for size they packed a serious punch. Maybe the heaviest chest to overhead waves I've ever surfed. Pretty dang cheap too from the east coast.
My next surfing trip will probably be 105 miles down the road to Cape May! Haha. I will be in California for a few days, maybe even a week in late May. My buddy and I were sitting around tossing back and forth some ideas yesterday. He wants to do somewhere in the Indian Ocean, Australia, somewhere like Thailand or the Philippines, perhaps somewhere in the Mediterranean. We'll it over some more over lunch in a little while.
Trying to decide on my next trip. PR (again) or CR seems most likely, probably late Oct. if all goes well between now and then. I'd be open for somewhere else, but cost and convenience based on where I'm located points to these two places. Anybody just get back from a trip they'd like to share or have one coming up soon ?
Outer Banks late September. Costa Rica - Jaco/Hermosa/Domincal - perhaps Pavones- early November. Def looking forward to both equally
heading to Trinidad and Tobago this week. Not a surf trip, but who knows maybe I luck out and score a few!
id like to travel the entire European coast, they all have good waves.i just need a few more warm water trips under my belt before I switch to cold water spots. I seen footage of one spot called portheleven or some weird sh1t like that, think its in England.place is heavy as fudgsticles
I'd love to go to Europe and explore the coast. I'm gonna wait till the bombings simmer down though lol
I always figure no matter where u go the safest place is the shoreline.once u go in land it gets sketchy
Probably a good time to get a suite deal going to Europe... since little vagina's like dpsup are too scared...
