Probably doing CR or DR by January. Never been to either. I wasn't in MX long enough. With nothing but short period slop in sight, the yearning is heavy. Maybe a quick SoCal trip againe before the summer lets out.

I'm headed to Norway at the end of August thru the beginning of September. I've been wanting to do a legit Artic trip for a while now. I looked hard at Iceland before deciding on Norway. It's the beginning of their fall season and hopefully most of the tourist should be long gone. The consistency in swells pick up and the water will be about as warm as it gets (which their warmest equals the coldest it gets here in SNC) I'm hoping I can get away with a 4/3, vest with hoodie and 5 mil accessories. If anyone has been at this time I'd love to get some feedback. I'm also really hoping to see some northern lights as darkness will just be making it's return along with the colder weather. We're renting a home in Vestvagoy which is 15 minutes or so from the best waves in Northern Norway. I'm soo fired up!! Norway looks ridiculously beautiful. Again, any tips, suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I gotta admit. The thought of going on a surf trip to a place with substantially colder water than home makes me throw up a little. Not hating - to each his own. Hope you score.

I always love when this thread is bumped. It reminds me how I've got no surf trips lined up at all right now. I am going to California later in the week and am gonna surf while there, but also have other things that I need to do while there. Then I've got a Las Vegas trip in a few weeks and we're still working in our annual two week trip to Gulf Coast Florida, where we visit my best friend's parents. We may only go for a week this year. We took my nephews in recent years, but they're now 19, been out of high school since last year and have full time jobs. We find a few days to surf the East Coast while there, usually only one or two. For the last few years I've been doing that for two weeks, in the last week of June and first week of July. Business I have to attend to in California has caused me to have to rearrange that Florida trip to possibly later in July or sometime in August.

I've been thinking about a Mediterranean trip at some point, I haven't been there. I have a few days off in January of 2018 and am thinking of maybe a trip that's close, like to Rincon or something. Flight schedules out of the New York airports suck and are at crazy times and 5 days isn't enough time to work around them. Aside from business in California and a week of work in July, I'm off until second week of September. I just don't have enough time to work in a trip with so much planned and needing to be planned in between now and then. And I'd be lying if I said I had the money!

You'll probably have better luck with waves here by pushing it into late July / early August so it could work out better for you that way.
    Lol Norway your secret spot???

Yeah....it's only one of the most beautiful places on earth with an empty right point, left point and beach break all on the same stretch of coast. Some of the waves towards the end of this video look pretty amazing. But yes, do me a favor and forget about it.
