if they have dark sand make sure the wife is aware. mine complained for a solid week down there about that.
^, the black sand at Playa Hermosa is super cool looking. But, it is the finest sand I have ever seen. It will stick with you for some time after your trip...depending on how sick Hermosa is pounding.
try getting it in an open wound... also for weeks after my last trip i was lowing black sand snot rockets
Still missing Oahu, after just getting back from there only 3 weeks ago. Hoping to go again in January, or possibly Rincon again, like I did last January. The problem with Oahu is that i'll be pressed for time and the flight out there is longer and knocks out 2 days right there. So I'd be going to Oahu for only 3-4 days on the ground? Not enough time for me. Just doesn't make sense for me, but I will be going back there next year! Likely in the Spring.
Yeah i saw that man. Im pumped. Never been to CR and really want to try ollies/witches if there's swell. Which it's looking like there should be. Anyone ever surf either? Any insight on what size it needs to work? Iv heard it needs swell but after trying to look at videos on the tube i havnt seen it over chest/shoulder.
Yeah I'll be staying at the rip jack right in front of playa grande. It's a honeymoon first and foremost but the lady knows the deal, im surfing. Plus we've had a crazy part year so we're only planning activities every other day and relaxing on the off days.... meaning i can score afternoon seshs too.
Congratulations. I took my girl there a 3 years ago. Hopefully you got one of the newer suites by the pool. It’s a cool set up. Restaurant upstairs had a chef. They did a sushi night. They did a ‘disco’ night that was super fun. There is a little outdoor bar/shack to eat and drink at like 200 yards south on same road with killer Mahi tacos. If you want to go big one night, there is a little town south...can’t remember the name but it has two really nice restaurants. One of them is owned by Germans and the food was amazing ($$$). If you take her there you will be the man. I have been to playa grande twice and definitely enjoyed the Ripjackinn. Good choice for the lady. Not super swanky more of a boutique inn with pretty good food all day. Best part is walking the path in the morning and dodging the millions of crabs! Always seemed like there was a decent to good wave. Surf high tide and work schedule around it. One more thing. We did a horseback ride up in the hills about 20 minutes from there and that was a highlight! Hope you score (and catch good waves too)!
Plus 1 for a great bit of info! He’s stoked as it is, but now he’s got a good picture in his head... good enough that it makes me wanna take the wife there for a second honeymoon haha
Thanks guys i appreciate it! So we actually got basically the best suite you could get there. Glad to hear you liked it there JayD. Iv been planning a trip to CR for years but timing was always off. But this was a perfect opportunity and it seems like she'd be happy there. From what your saying it sounds right up our alley. I gave her my info and she looked it up, she was good with it. Glad to hear you liked the horseback ride too, we were discussing if we should do that or not. Definitely going to have to check that out now. Thanks for the inside scoop on grub. We do enjoy winging it at times but definitely appreciate the push in the right direction. Im really pumped for the trip and you just got me a bit more pumped. Thanks again duder!
Did you rent a car? We were planning on winging it and make a game time decision when we land. If it was a dedicated surf trip id totally rent one to explore. But since im planning on surfing right out front or planning a trip to ollies i don't think i need one. Surf wise atleast. We are walkers, but within reason ofcourse. Your input would be much appreciated
I did not rent a car on that trip. It was all about eating and drinking, making sweet love, and surfing. We met a local couple who went on horse back with us and they drove. He also took me to Avellana and playa negra. Having the surf right there is cool. It totally turns off at low tide. You can walk around town there (it’s hot), hike to river etc. We stayed in the main suite too and it’s suite! You don’t have to have a car but it would give you some options...
10 days in CR over Turkey Day. I want to recall the feeling of being physically spent yet going out again & again to surf fun waves ........as well, what it means to surf more than once a month...
