Yeah, I've got $350 worth of credit with jetblue that i need to use by december or i lose it - need to get off my butt and book my trip for mid-feb to PR.
did anybody do Cuba yet? cheap R/T's out of my local, cheaper than PR. from what i've read, swell is on the south end. would like to hear from anyone that's done it, whatever surf related info you got on it. thx Also i tried looking it up in here ye forume, but a buncha threads on the FBI and trump come up. forgot yall got all political round here
legit question....why go to the Caribbean and not the pacific central america which seems much more consistent?
Panama has that private surfing island... Nicaragua sounds good from things you hear too. Good question but I think part of it is because it’s such a banana republic thing - much worse safety wise than Mexico. Just my .02
Costa is safer than most US cities and IMHO moreso than PR. Ive been to a few Caribbean spots but go back to Costa cause its so consistently good. Been going since the early 90s and never been skunked.
seems...got skunked in Pavones. i'd like to travel to lesser known spots myself, and i think a lot of ppl here like to do the same. CR does have good Round trip prices for me, but i'm not gonna go to the same place with my hard earned $ each time. other places down there in Pac central america are $300+ than CR to get to and a bit less safe believe it or not PS Had to edit/delete one $ cuz i don't make sht here like BossMon, super jelly of that dude n his 6grand trips
This is a very solid point. I went to PR once and i was young and not really paying attention. I only remember it being fun but i couldn't tell you what the swell info (no pun intended) was. But when i ws in CR it was an 18-21 second period swell the whole week. That type of power does wonders. Does the Caribbean get swell periods like that consistently or is it more short period (with the exception of canes and what not) stuff like our good ol east coast?
I'm right there with you. Other than the fact that the flights are a couple hours longer (but still direct) Panama and El Salvador seem to me (based on a couple trips) less expensive and with better waves than PR. I've only been to PR twice and only surfed the Rincon/Aguadilla areas so just scratched the surface no doubt...scored fun waves each time for sure.....but didn't find any 300 meter pointbreaks going OFF! And actually the lineup hassling in PR was pretty bad from time to time which i havent encountered in Central America.
Yes the lineup hassling has gotten worse, but I encourage it. We try to keep you chucking gringos out of PR. We hate you. Go to Mejico, moron. hahahahahaha!!!
What the what??? It can’t be?! Is it the legendary barracuda himself back from the depths of despair??
From the northeast too I believe lol. Hey at least now you know it’s not The Biggs finally. Maybe I’ll rile him up just to prove it
Of course I am, but also an "honorary portorican", with "Boricua" stamped on my forehead. And, btw, I go there in a couple of weeks--can't wait to slip into the turquoise warm waters on me favorite board at daybreak. I will then surf for a couple of hours, then fetch my wife to go out for breakfast.
Tried to check it out yesterday, but it looked flatter than an A cup. Wasn’t even gonna bother going out to take a look.
It’s why I went back 3 more times every six months after my honeymoon the 1st trip. Gotta get my money right so I can get back to that. Do it!
