Right on dude, you're going to the right place, can't go wrong with Bobby and Raquelle. Nice people, honest, clean facility. You'll dig it.
First time posting on here. Heading to PR in November, 5th time going there. Surf/10th anniversary trip.
Barbados doesn't get mentioned here too much but i've seen Bahamas come up a couple times. I hear Barbadoes is behind PR as far as surf Caribbean destination goes. If i do get to make it out there soon, at least i know who to ask. Another one that i've got my eyes on is Cuba, betcha there are some sketchy stuff in the water but I'm sure there are some good waves around there...and rum
I think Barbados is better than PR. The downside is its further away, but the plus is the people are nicer, its cleaner and I think Soup Bowl is better than any wave in PR. I've been to PR five or six times. Stayed in Rincon once, and stayed in Isabella each time after. I'm a big fan of the Surfer's Beach to in town Aguadilla stretch. Wishing Wells, just south of Wilderness, and Schoolyards in town are my two favorite spots. It has gotten awfully crowded and agro in PR.
Heading to Southern California four weeks from now. Staying in San Clemente. Love that place. This is my third trip there. Hard to beat in the fall. Light crowds, glassy conditions. Taking both of my sons this year. Really looking forward to seeing my 11 year old take on Lowers for the first time. Here is a shot of my oldest from last years adventure. Such an easy trip. Jump on plane at 7:30 in Phl and in the water in California by lunch time.
Been to BGI x4, not an expert but would say it's def worth going. If Soup is blown out, and it can be blown out for days at a time, try Maycocks on the west side, as well as Duppies. If Soup is on & crammed with locals & others then you could try to walk over to Parlors; located literally next to Soup: fun wave, holds size, not Soup of course, but without the crowds. Bring reef booties just in case you're at Maycocks on low. And leave nothing, nada, on the beach or it will be taken. South swell gets you Freights along with massive numbers of longboarts, SUPs, kayaks & beginners. Surfers Pt always seems choppy every time I've gave it a go; couple other places on south shore that are ok with plenty of good shortboart locals. The Mt Gay rum factory tour is worth taking/tasting. The Banks factory tour is ok, but really just for the beer hut. Oistins for fish, although the Friday night gathering thing they have there is pretty lame.
I've gone the first week of November the past two years with great luck. Last year we had chest high to well overhead the entire 8 days we were there last year. The year before we had waist to shoulder high and sheet glass every single day. Where is your area?
Yeah Scobes, your spawn is ripping! I'm doing my yearly retreat to Aguadilla, PR for a month this winter. Got a 6'0" Lost quiver killer, and a 5'8" Puddle Jumper Round Pin on order for the trip. I have bigger boards down there already for the bigger days. But I'm actually considering Mozambique next summer after seeing that thread. Done a bunch of research on it, and will probably pull the trigger on booking it after PR.
