Welp Apr 7th I was still hoping for Mex....You can actually drive into Mex right now with no problems according to all accounts. Coastal situation is different tho. Friend who lives in Colima says he hasn't been able to surf for 2 months and there's been no beer. I believe most beaches are opening up as we speak but most of the places I like to go are off the path and would likely not be happy/accept extranjeros. No beer, restaurants closed, can't sur//ef that. Pretty sad about it as looks like would've scored a swell in the gulf on way . Fark. Plan B we are driving to Northern Rockies ID MO WY stops in Asheville, KY, CHI, SD on way. Mountain biking/camping the whole time also have an inflatable kayak. Then a 2 week expidition rafting trip through Grand Canyon end of July. So all in all pretty fun 2 month trip but no surf

Airbnb's are now available in Puerto Rico. My girl is going to visit her dad and I'm going to tag along 4 surf curfew is still 7 p.m. but I think I can get at least a couple of sessions in. Going to check out a few of the lesser-known spots. Nothing humanitarian about this mission for me just a free trip for surf

Before the Covid hit I was supposed to go to California next week with my son to do a contest and then a road trip.

Just curious about El Salvador. More specifically la libertad. I can tell by photos and reading different surf forms that it has pretty good surf most of the year and it looks like a rocky Beach line. Does anybody have experience with this area?

I have friends that have gone and it sounds pretty sketchy to me. To each his own. There are plenty of safe destinations that I've never been to that I can skip the sketchy ones.

I could really use a surf trip right now.

We swung into La Libertad last year one day on a trip to a nearby spot. We didn't score it, but drove through most of the town. It didn't look sketchy, actually looked kind of a touristy beach town, but take it with a grain of salt we didn't stay there. The Punta Roca wave is world class, and everyone I know who has been to El Salvador raves about it, and surfs it every chance they get. Its a rock bottom point break and getting in and out of the ocean means doing the rock dance. Some of the nearby point breaks (also excellent waves) have some sand bottom sections which makes getting in and out easy. I've only been to El Sal twice and only really surfed three waves....All three of the spots I surfed were some of the best waves of my life, and are in small towns that were full of very friendly people that were great to hang out with.

Man I am absolutely itching to get out of town.

Anyone know the situation is Costa Rica? Beaches still closed? How's the virus in Centro America?

They just opened Manuel Antonio state park from quepos to dominical. But check the air bnb situation first. The buses are running there too. You have to have a negative covid test within a few days of arival

I saw a wknd whereas flights to San Diego are back on the cheap; they shot up to the standard 5 bills out of here right after we bailed a couple weeks back. Now it's a go early November. I thought i missed out on such a cheap fare across the country, but w the travel miles it's a $100 flight. Saving that Delta voucher for PR in dead Winter here. Still gonna keep an eye if Hawaii gets cheap again tho

finally, it's getting to that travel time. San Diego is looking promising for this upcoming wknd with the cold front coming in. Packing the 4/3 as a result. I'll rent a car for a couple days, not the whole trip since i'll be residing in Ocean Beach for the long wknd. Knowing i'm having a short work week, def feel a lil less stressed out already

I really want to go to Hawaii this winter. This whole Covid thing has me gun-shy to commit to buying tickets. Haven't been anywhere since Puerto Rico last February and I really need a trip. Perhaps a late season North Shore trip.

You might be a little warm in the 4/3, especially during the day when the sun is out. I just switched, today, from the 2 mil to the 3/2 and I'm 25 minutes north of OB.

Back from San Diego, not so much a surfing trip but recon for next time. Got in Thurs evening, got up w a guy driving an old Sienna van off Craigslist (u see where this is going right??) who had an Ellington board 6/10 w a squash tail- local La Jolla shaper i was told. Next morning, an old college buddy came from PB on his foamie to go down to Avalanches at OB. Shoulder to head hi in a semi chop form. Was real cold, def could've rocked the 4/3, my toes froze up after an hour in. Because of the cold front, waves were dumpy - much like the right coast waves i get here. I was flying down the line and had a memorable one going to the right waiting to get rocked but having a couple seconds of bliss looking down the line thinking if i pumped hard i might have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Did a second session after playing some Disc golf in between and got a few more before i got a ride from another friend, borrowing his car for the duration of the trip. It was crowded at OB, sure, but not enough chicks as i thought i'd see in the water. It was blown out for the rest of the wknd and rainy, but i did go up the coast all the way up to Encinitas and down Sunset Cliffs to see some breaks. And i figured my timing would be get political and a big debate has been ensuing for a while, yada yada yada, but I know who i'm with #Robertos2020 damn those were good burritos
