Staying in San Clemente with a rental car with unlimited mileage. 8 days to surf with solid swell in the forecast the entire stay. Looking like we won't see waves below head high our entire stay. Taking my two sons 11 and 17. This will be the 11 year old's first California trip and his brother's 3rd.

11 year old little ripper from a couple weeks ago.

And his big brother from last years California trip.

I'm waiting on my bonus check at work but it's looking like Carolina Beach for New Years. haven't surfed there yet, hoping there'll be some spots via AirBnB when i get that bonus. saw the places were "flexible" so if no waves are predicted then i can bounce without taking a huge hit on the wallet. once i know for sure, i'll be looking for the great 'vice from the fello SI members

Time for me to figure out a destination fellas. My wife and I are trying to decide where we want to go for our next vacation, probably around my birthday, end of April / beginning of May.

We've been to PR 4 times but didn't go last year since we relocated. I'm itching to go back and it's an easy inexpensive trip relative to other options, but at the same time, kinda wouldn't mind doing something different. The flight is just over 2hrs from here though so it's so convenient.

We're also looking at CR, Barbados, Eleuthera Bahamas, and lastly a return to Vegas as a non-surf destination. Decisions, decisions...

My bday falls early April and the R/T price from MIA->Barbados now is like $200. There are points right to the south, 30 min to an hour drive, of the Bridgetown Airport that are consistent. Plus i love rum. Finally nailed down some dates this past Friday for CR in mid November (unfortunately we're not doing Nicoya Peninsula but rather Hermosa/"don't stay in" Jaco area. Mid to late September will be Outer Banks. Both places i haven't tried. But if you're like me and think the Pura Vida Westerna is over-played, then take a longer look into Barbados

MMMm Rum.... definitely interested in Barbados, Soup Bowl is the spot I hear a lot about down there. It would be a change of pace for sure.

Thought about Barbados as well, but just wasn't sure if the island will have surf in August?

Pretty sure that CR or Nica will have consistent surf in August. I already know that Mexico will, but would like to try something new.

Fark, I'm even looking at Samoa and Fiji lol

May do Hatteras for Spring Break.......if not my next trip will likely be California next fall or an outside chance of doing Hawaii. My oldest will be a senior in high school so I might splurge for Hawaii.

I've been trying to pull the OBX trip with my wife but she doesn't think there's enough for her to do so IDK if that one will happen anytime soon. It's usually PR or Vegas lol

I live in a tourist trap. What draws me to Hatteras is that there is nothing to do. Peace and quiet. Rent a good house that has a hot tub and a nice entertainment center. Rent kayaks. Go fishing. Surf. Explore. Climb the lighthouse. Go visit Manteo and the Aquarium.

I'll rent something like this offseason......its hard to beat. I like Avon because there is a grocery store and you are half way between Lighthouse and S-Turns. http://www.outerbeaches.com/vacation-rentals/properties/sunrise-sunset-68/

Yeah a place like that would be ideal. I've been to KDH before, so I'm familiar, but it would be a trip more for me, and not my wife. She'd be pretty bored i'm sure but who knows, maybe one day.

Surf trips are out for the next few years. Gots the new baby. Probably gonna resign to weekend ski trips and camping trips around New England and upstate NY. If Rhodey counts then yeah I guess that will be my next as i make the pilgrimage a few times a year to see the white wolf.

there's a island off panama that I clicked on today! not sure if it was majic or si page. 100 bucks a night, not 5 star or anything but it seems like a cool adventure! don't like the 5 hr bus to the city but I guess real adventures take some sacrifice! cant really get any closer to the water and nature!

There's a difference between vacation and surf trip. My wife and I typically take vacation to Hawaii each year. I consider it vacation and not a surf trip because where stay where she wants. I have a hookup on the north shore which is fine for me but not her so we typically stay at a nice place in town. I also take at least one surf trip with freinds that is 100% surf centric. I wouldn't dare take my wife or family to half those places.

And skip Kill Devil Hills. The real Outer Banks as far as I'm concerned is Pea Island, Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island.
