Thats the roy carpenters cam and that sucks.

Its easier to drive there and look than it is to wrestle with those controls, I could probably get a better look from the roof of my house.

Thanks for keeping me in the know, maybe Ill just start hustling down to New Jersey cause its less crowded

Winter is still crowded now on the east coast. Doesn't matter if the water is 50 or 35
New wetsuits and social media ruined winter surfing.

Well, at least you know one of two things now: Burry's real name is Charlie; or, he's Asian. Yah, yah, who cares.

Actually it's in the mid to upper 40s right along the coast in most spots. Water temp of 46 showing in gansett bay. VERY near shore/beach waters cool before open ocean buoy's. Less water depth to warm. On top of it, 50 degrees is not warm. That's basically central california in the winter where they wear full winter suits and gloves/hood. Limiting factor is air temp anyway when it's 29 degrees. Half your body is out of the water

Yeah I think the water temp is SLIGHTLY below october....lmao.

Yeah no one needs a hood, that's why EVERY SINGLE surfer on the lincoln cam and at matunuck and at gansett town beach was wearing a full WINTER suit with hood and gloves. Good luck getting your ears drilled. Also, when the air temperature is that cold, then THE AIR TEMP is the limiting factor. Your head/ears are soaking wet in air temp below freezing is great way to get phneumonia. Water temp in upper 40s and air temp of 30 and you won't even be able to feel your hands without gloves But have at it!. You don't need 7mm gloves, but absolutely 3mm. A hood also keeps your CORE warm.

Finally, my point was that premier breaks like matunuck(best longboard wave on ec...super long rides for people not familiar) now have a lot of people year round. Sure you could find a close out wave or an inconsistent break less crowded than that(in summer too), but the best most consistent breaks are packed year round. Will matunuck have less people in harsher conditions, sure, but even if you took half that amount it's still a lot of people. The whole point of winter surfing was to have it all to yourself. Those days are gone.

There's been a HUGE increase in the number of people surfing in winter.

I agree. HUGE difference between NJ and rhode island. I was just talking about increased crowds at surfing breaks in new england and how everyone seems to be doing it now.

Dude, I never rode matunuck even when I lived up that way. It's no good for boogie boarding. Wave is too slow. Great wave for longboards.

No kidding....Point still remains. If you're braving brutal new england winters, it used to be you could catch empty waves at the premier(ie best) breaks without a crowd. Hell summer used to be uncrowded. I've noticed increased crowds just in recent years and it seems to get worse every year. Hurricane swells have been getting more packed every year. Hell, now even winter is crowded.

Winter surfing is for the masses now......PERIOD!!! LOL
