Has anyone just said "eh, what the he11" and just gathered up you boards and drove somewhere with no destination in mind? Sounds really fun. Wish I was old enough to drive. 2 more years!

until you run out of gas. best to have a direction rather than a destination anyways. North or south around here.. hug the coast. Some days its all recon, find your way to the `inbetween` spots, the little hidden nooks, and imagining the swell when its bigger. I`ve never been one for writing the info in a log (swell directions, etc) but I take very intricate mental notes, and swell comes its almost as if you can feel those spots breaking.

Ya, definetly hug the the coast for sure. Don't want to miss anything. In April, my family and I are going down to NC and surfing every state on the way down. We did it last year and were very successful. Cant wait to go again!

Awe your lucky that sounds so much fun but I wouldn't get to do that anytime soon since I'm the only surfer in my family. I'm going to Delaware and North Carolina for a college trip and then Possibly Hawaii for vacation. And to answer with something to do about the thread I've packed up boards with my friend once with no destination and drove along the nj shore found no waves and ended up looking at boards in all the surf shops we drove by

I used to do that trip every year with a friend and his family. Enjoyable for sure. Did my own version of it a few summers back with my girlfiend, took the ferry and stayed along the coast as much as possible. Good ol' times, enjoy yourself young buck

Hey thanks kid for a great idea. Never really thought of it. But I am a teacher (actually teach kids your age Biology) and have summers open, and a pop up camper. My kids would love the idea, and I'd just take a couple longboards for summer waves, head up north, and work my way down to OBX where mother in law lives. You may have just paid some random teacher back for the extra money the state of maryland doesn't pay him.
