It's been a while since we had one of these threads, and knowing the general area where someone lives gives some good context to your sarfing posts.

I'll go first: I live in Wilmington, NC and I manly surf the 3 barrier islands that are within a 1/2 hour drive from my house.

I live on my island. It's long. live on the south shore smack dab in the middle in a town that is on a bay that is south of me and pretty great. Surf sand bar waves mostly on the barrier islands on the the other side. One of them has a long beach. Also like to get my days on the other end of my island which has coves and rock reefs.

Can't complain about my set up. I lived and grew up on a barrier island. It is great but easy to just surf out in front all the time.

Carlsbad, CA. Grew up in DE and lived in OCMD for several years in my late teens, early twenties before moving to Baltimore for most of my adult life. Been in SoCal for about 4.5 years now.

I surf the gentle, forgiving waves within 15 minutes of my house.

No secret... I live three blocks from the beach in Monmouth Beach, NJ, in Northern Monmouth County. A little town of 1 square mile with 3K people, between Long Branch and Sea Bright, just south of Sandy Hook, a National Park that forms the northern tip of the Jersey Shore. Ironically, I was born and learned to surf in Cape May, which forms the southernmost tip of the Jersey Shore.

I'm lucky enough to work in the park 12 months out of the year, so I see it when it's gridlock on the roadways and jam packed with tourists in the summer, and desolate in the winter. And everything in between.

A lot of options for surfing, spearfishing, sailing, hook and line fishing... with the Shrewsbury River, Sandy Hook Bay, and Atlantic Ocean on three sides. It's all sandbars and jetties for the most part, with a couple of pseudo-points within an hour's drive.

Folly Beach, SC. Grew up in Sparkle City, SC but ventured twice a year to Daytona Beach as a kid with parents' friends who had kids same age as me n the bruvs. Picked up surfing there; got back into it when i came to the College of Knowledge here. Been renting on Folly last 5 yrs, was dwntn for bout 10 yrs before that. Prolly buying a house (def being pressured to do so by the parents haha), not on Folly, so I'm trying to make the most of it. I don't have a link of it being one of the best surf towns, but it's a candidate for best in the SouthEast

I live near an airport where SWA is a hub so lots of options for non-stop flights. Before retiring my job took me to a lot of surf spots, now I fly on my own dime but have more time.

Grew up surfing in FL on the gulf coast, then New Zealand, now in New Hammy for the past 20 years. Surf Maine, Mass, and here depending on the usual wind/swell/tide factors. Love the variety, hate the inconsistency.
