Fall Out Boy. I f**king hate fall out boy. More than liknin park, more than fun, even more than mumford and daughters. Yes, I bumped this thread to say that. And it dawned on me yesterday when I heard a new song from this hideous group on our local 'alternative' radio station, and i need to get this off my chest. Part of the reason my abhoration for this 'band' is so strong is beacause for some unknown reason, people refer to them, or at least used to, as a punk band. I will not tolerate fall out boy being classified as punk. Thank you I feel better now.
Seldom, if not often, Seen. I have never heard this band....nor do I want to. I read a little blurb interview with the lead singer in TIME some months ago........I wanted to shot the dude. He was such a douche that it should be against the law, even in MIS-13's anarchist state. OMG, such a horrible person. He even claimed that the coolest, bestest, most brillant people of out time are: Kanye West and that Lena Dunham chick.....she does that HBO thang Girls, WHICH SUCKS TOTAL SCHLONG. SHE SUCKS. SHE TOTALLY SUCKS. HER TATTOOS SUCK......HER SHOW SUCKS....SHE SUCKS. And don't even get me started on that son b!tch Kanye West...........I sometimes entertain the idea of becoming a papparazzi-type dude....just to piss off Kanye West. Man, I'd annoy the hell out of him. Yeah, come at me Kanye, with your attitude. Now, I'm no tough guy(4'10" 100 pounds), but I promise you I'll knock Kanye the F out. I promise you. I got depressed rage that would surface with him. He ain't no hood. He's an act. ahh man..........
Often I hear some of you men say that "ALL THE CULTURE SUCKS NOW"... All of you older guys... I've lurked long enough, and read your concert histories enough, to know that you have seen and done some choice sh*t. But to say that "all culture post 2000 sucks," or something like it, is foolish... Could I guarantee that someone is playing some good sh*t in your very neighborhood? Maybe not. But I can guarantee that you don't put much time into searching for new music. There's something decent out there, probably local too. OPEN YOUR MIND QUAID... START THE REACTOR.... Now, Behold my hatred: Cat 1 - 'I'm Going Full Roy N***a!!': Jay-Z: Supremely talented, but his thirst for capitalism has thoroughly disgusted me and his shamelessly constant output has worn his talent thin. "Wooden shapes, I'm da lord, Makin boards you can't afford, Five-hundo-K, Don't question me, F**k you R-cart and Yankee"... Cat 2 - 'Where Da Snipers At?': Drake: Nothing without his producers. Ke$ha: Slampig, die ho. Florida-Georgia Line: Just look at the name and imagine the sound. Yep. MILEY CYRUS: Nuff said, die die die my darlin. Cat 3 - 'Hand Me That Rifle': Jimmy Buffet: With all of his Margaritaville restaurants/merchadise, he is the Wal-Mart of pop country; choke on a cheeseburger please. Chris Brown: No further explanation necessary. Pull the trigger. Adam Levine: Singer of absolutely terrible band Maroon 5, host of 'The Voice,' and supposed proprietor of a line of women's shoes, he is the all-encompassing embodiment of a pure douche. Of course nearly all pop-country is pure garbage and any solo-artist who doesn't play an instrument probably sucks too. And yes, Katy Perry is by far above and beyond the most poundable. For some good tunes though... all you jaded dude's check this good sh*t out. Ramsey Midwood, Austin TX slow groove country: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np5766R3U7Q and Night Birds outta Jersey... surf-tinged shred punk. Go see these guys. http://night-birds.bandcamp.com/
Gaf, I'm assuming that is a Kanye joint. Not impressed by any rapical lyricist post 1997. I can do Kanye stuff sober for God's sakes. Gaf, you read Lord Alfred? Hmmm. Who is more sophisticated? I read Proust, by the fireside, while sipping tea and eating krimpets. Pip Pip. Gaf, youse guys have waves out there? Hey could we get a few. Peace be upon you, Gaf. And watch out for the Laughin Devils......... It just turned fall in the NE - highs in the 50's...low's in the 30's...colder north - and I DESPISE when it finally turns cold and there's no bubs. It ruins the whole season. We're supposed to be digging the chill, getting a shack, busting a lip, and then smelling fireplaces and watching leaves being windswept down the block. It's not happening. Any G-Town thugs out there: Put me in a studio......teach me what buttons to press to "create" your jams, and give me a straight-up thuggy voiced dude...........I'll write the rhymes that make the young girls cry. Also, when I was 16, Eddie Van Halen said aboot me, " Whoa that dudes got some chops." Then he took another swig of Jack, did a large bump and said, "Ok I have to go shoot a video for 'Jump,' " Now watch the video for "Jump," not one of their best songs by the way, and see how messed-up Mr. Van Halen is. Slashdog: I don't see what is so talented aboot Jay-Z. Rap is the least talented genre in music. They rhyme 3rd grade poetry over computer generated music. Your rap was better than any of the clowns making bank out there today. Really, I'm serious. Your other targets are on-mark, as far as I'm concerned. Though I don't know who Florida/Georgia be. But Drake's a sissy from Canada who played a paralyzed dude on a feel good Canadian TV show.......now he's G-Town thugster. Man, why do Canadians smoke rock out of soda cans...opps I mean pop cans.....? Fools. And this Adam Levine dude............That band sucks......ten times worse than the hated yet commercially succesful Nicklebag. They alter his voice in the studio, right? You know nobody likes Bon Jovi or Nicklebag but they sell millions of albums.....uncanny. I have never encountered anyone who says, " Yeah I dig Nicklebag," Yet they sell tons. Led Zeppelin, crackers....... a little Black Sabbath..........and lsiten to some jazz in soft lighting late at night after you banged a few bags. Stare at the ceiling.
some of the worst torture in my lifetime are Fleetwood mac ,journey, bon jovi, dave Matthews, sheryl crow, madonna, train, avett brothers, jack Johnson and the list goes on and on. music was awesome here in America from the jazz age through the 60's/70's until video killed it so by the 90's it was over as far as top 40 goes.
Aww man, Fleetwood Mac did some b!tchen stuff, man. Gold Dust Woman is killer. Journey's outro solo on Stone in Love is just magic, man.........magic. Jack Johnson is perhaps the most boring performer in the world. Highly touted amongst psuedo-hippies and new-aged vegan types. Just horribly plain, vanilla and boring. Jack Johnson is the reason black people dislike white people. In my opinion(which tends to be fact....la verdad) the 90's saw the last of anything good in popular music. I don't mean "pop" per say as in Top Forty, but stuff that people actually hear and know. Jane's Addiction, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, STP and Nirvana was the last era of good stuff. Though Pearl Jam and Nirvana had this thing against being "commercial." Cobain mocked Pearl Jam for being "commercial," which was a joke. PJ played what they wanted to play. They didn't "sell-out." And ironically, Cobain was availed a platform to say such things through his "commercial" popularity. Cobain was just a tad jealous that Pearl Jam was a much more talented, musically sophisticated band. I like Nirvana, but they were a glorified garage band. Jeez, Kurt had to have other guitaritst back him up on stage, he was certainly no Randy Rhoads to begin with.
wow u guys listen to some crappy music.i listen to a lot of older stuff, you people would probably think im gay,i appreciate good singing.eddie vedder and chris cornell in temple of the dog, fukin classic.stp replaced scott with the kid from linken park, thats just an insult to real fans.same with alice in chains, they got a black dude playin guitar, which is fine, but half the bands been dead for nearly 2 decades.shouldve changed the band name like audioslave and foo fighters.music sucks nowadays.i listen to q104.3 most of the time, all old stuff like the eagles, simon n Garfunkel, mammas and the papas, hart, def leppard, zepplin, the clash, elton john, and that genre.the only good song iv heard this past year is lorde, royals.im sure most of u find that gay,but that chick can sing and the lyrics are pretty good
From the title and number of posts, I was afraid this might be another run amuck religion thread. I like the older stuff too. My kids roll their eyes, but much of their stuff I don't get. Seems to be a lot of rage, trash talk, booming bass, minimal talent, and no soul. But my folks didn't like the stuff we listened to either: Eagles, Credence, Stones, America, Neil Young, Leon Russell, Motown. Throw in some Waylon and Willie. My favorite music year was 1971. So that's where this old man is coming from.
Jack Johnson... makes Wayne Brady... look like Malcom X. Usher.. another head worth poppin. Cher is exceptionally annoying. Some 90's garbage: Limp Bizkit and pretty much anything 'Nu-Metal' or rap-rockish is f*cking terrible. Korn and all those bands are not even worth a creatively negative comment. They just SUCK. How did you all forget P-Diddy? I think 50-Cent's talent is... non-existent. Fleetwood Mac's songs and lyrics are invariably well crafted. Cepriano, you angry young man... 104.3 has played the same seasonally varying playlists for my entire life. How often do you hear any of the truly good stuff- Janis Joplin, an ENTIRE Pink Floyd song, or maybe THE REPLACEMENTS? Or some Townes Van Zandt? Some more Creedence off of Cosmos, perhaps? Nope. That radio station, and all 'classic rock' radio stations, are just the same old crap marketed to white working class people who crave an alternative to mainstream pop. Come on Tri-State Cracker association... I know you're all smarter than to fall for that marketing tactic, right?
P Diddy, as all rappers, are extrmely lucky dudes with limited talent who prosper from "The Bar Being Set So Low." However, P-Diddy gets some accolades from me for: Being the general in the East vs. West rap wars. He told them crackers out west to suck it, and he held down the fort. Our waves may suck, but we're so much cooler out on the streets. Plus, the west's posterboy was frickin born and raised in New York and Baltimore. Those dudes out there need a gang to be bad. The east coast is comprised of individuals and generational drug sets based on the block or immediate neighborhood. We don't wear colors. And you fake-arse bloods in NYC and Trenton need to drop that smack. Take that sh!t back to Piru St in Compton. This is the east side baby, we don't play that stuff. The only gangs allowed out this side is the Latin Kings and the Netas. That's it. Thank you. Remember, when trolling the ghetto for party favors always hit the Puerto Rican sets. Skip the brothers. Also, during the 90's Puffy appeared on Saturday Night Live playing one of his songs that lifted a Zeppelin riff. I believe the Zep riff was Kasmhir. Don't know what Puffy song it was and don't care. Anywayswho, Mr. Jimmy Page joined him for the performance, and at the end of the song, Puffy bowed to Mr. Page. At least he knows where he really stands in the hierarchy or hier-Archy. So he gets credit for that.
c3po, I like lorde too, I knew first time I heard it it would be a crossover hit and that everybody would love it and it made me sad. (The hipster in me. christ I might be one I just bought a fixie! no kidding...) One relatively new band that encompasses a world of Psychedelia and is Tame Impala. They are from Australia. There still some good stuff out there, but you got tolook. Youse old guys remind me of my old high school aquaintances that still get a chubby when Boston comes on the radio...
I tell ya, that royals tune is pretty cool. Nice to hear something 'mainstream' that's not materialistic.
Agreed...most new stuff blows. The only albums I have from the last 5 years or so are Phish. As a lover of classic rock, let me throw this out there. The UK beats this sh!t out of the US when it comes to classic rock. Some examples: US: - Bruce Springsteen: AWFUL - Bob Seger: HORRIBLE - Tom Petty: TOLERABLE AT BEST - John Mellencamp: HORRIFIC - Aerosmith: SUCKFEST - Lynyrd Skynyrd: GOOD - Allman Bros: GOOD - Bob Dylan....ok...he's prolific - Grateful Dead: do they belong in this list? They're obviously like the best ever. UK: - The Who: INCREDIBLE - Led Zeppelin: UNBELIEVABLE - Pink Floyd: EPIC - Jethro Tull: MARVELOUS - Rolling Stones...eh...they're OK. - Not a fan, but the Beatles To me, there's no comparison. The UK had the best music until 90's grunge came around. Who else should be on these lists? Does anyone disagree with me? Certainly not...
who knew. if you play the whole Dark Side of the Moon albums right after the third lion roar of the Wizard of Oz you will be seriously tripped out. it follows the movie perfectly!
Here's a few more I haven't seen mentioned....Black Eyed Peas, Insane Clown Posse, Five Finger Death Punch, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
Haha! My buddies and I must have did this about 10 times on semester. We tried the other two rumored match-ups as well. - The Wall with Alice in Wonderland. We were not convinced. - The song "Echoes" with a specific segment of 2001 Space Odyssey. That ones was pretty good. Lou Reed and Zappa are both good calls. Zappa was awesome. At times I think he should be compared with weird Al, but man was he talented. Traffic anyone?
