Yank, looks like you timed that well & everything lined up, tides, etc .. return trip hitting bay bridge / beltway around lunch time, sun at your back.. minimized traffic. Good deal.

Have wondered, daily, if I would love surfing as much as I do if I lived in a place where I could walk out the door & surf whenever I wished. I think I might end up in a similar gig. Y'know, if you could have your favorite food every day & you did so, it would very soon not be your favorite food - - that sort of thing.

Or the orther one I believe in, especially when it comes to my knockout ex-wife: 'next to every gorgeous woman is a man who's tired of fukkking her.'

8 months in and it's still an addiction for me. I don't see it changing, but who knows. The flat spells and choppy days keep the hunger alive.

waist high am...water was cold...afternoon, size nearly doubled, and the water warmed up too. Almost enough for a spring suit. Surfed my local spot am and pm in town. Regardless fun all day.

Yesterday was SO fun around noon. clean rights just reeling down the sandbar. Couldn't believe the water temps...I was so hot in just a 3/2. Then someone pointed this out to me:

That's amazing, Mitchell - - water temps nothing like that yest over on the other side, 630-930am. Everyone with booties on, save one bare-feet-held-in-the-air trooper. I'll have to try to stick around longer next go

All right what's happening? Glad you guys are getting waves.

The water is still cold here. Especially early. Hands hurt at first without gloves. The first dunk under is a little "refreshing". Kinda a fat here this morning and i had a small window so I took the stubby into some shore break death bombs. hiked a bit and found a peak tha was standing up a little further out and offered a bit a room. This little board can move but you gotta work it. Got a bunch of turns in a short space then just went for it on the shore and went either up and down into the sand like a dart or ducked into an absolute thrashing. Shell bits in my suit and a scallop was imprinted on my skin. Love me some summer shore break death bombs.

Who else has been surfing? this is the place to post your story.

it was modified in town...only reason why I went..normally surf at my other spot if tide is right...figure with the warm water, they may pull the modified...not alot of tourist in town yet.

Been surfing for about a week or two without booties...numb for the first 5 minutes, but after felt fine...felt good to have the toes in the wax, tho wierd at first. Yesterday pm, no more numbing...felt great!

Sunday I drove over the bridge to Rodanthe. It was ok in between rain bands. The water was not bad at all and managed to surf two hours in a springsute and I was fine. KDH session still needed the 3/2. That system carried a lot of warm water with it...I suspect it will drop back down a bit.

It's been about 14-15 years since I've been to the OBX, KDH specifically, it's a special place, would love to go back, trying to talk my wife into a trip there, but she doesn't want to be bored with nothing to do. Is there anything I can tell her about that place that would seem interesting to a female who doesn't surf?

Not much has changed tho in 15 years. Great resteraunts too. I take my kids and wife down on the southern end, all the way down to buxton...heading down there third week in July. Not much to do down there but relax and surf! My kind of vaca!
