Headed upcoast againe this weekend. Was only gonna go for Saturday. But my wife has decided to learn how to surf inspired by watching Betty and her gals. She doesn't respond to my coaching well but a randome stranger offered the use of her longboard (she's been using an 8' foamie until now). This wonderful lady spent an hour and a half giving her tips and pushing her into waves. My wife got to her feet for the first time and is thoroughly stoked now! Pam, if you are reading this, you were wonderful!

We had to leave early Saturday just to find my wife her own longboard. First surf shop had nothing that spoke to her. But there was a used 9'2" Robert August noserider that is now mine. Suite!

We kept heading south and after a few more stops she found her board, a 9'1" neon pink Modern. The owner of the shop had taken this brand new board for a spin and put a ding in the rail. After some d1ckering she got the board for cost. I did a quickie job of sealing it until a better repair can be done.

We went back upcoast Sunday. Waves were smaller than Saturday but still plenty of fun. We both got to try out our new rides. My wife has a long way to go but is making progress. More importantly she's having shiploads of fun. Betty provided her some great encouragement and fine advise. Thanks Betty, it really helped!

My wife can't wait to go againe. We dropped her board off to get the rail ding professionaly repaired. Should be ready in a few days so now we've now got the perfect excuse to return next weekend despite the less than epic forecast. Go before you know.

Also, I finally got myself some SeaSpecs sunglasses. I was tired of not being able to see in the early morning sun glare. I love them. They do a great job all the time. Normally my eyes are tired, red and burning after a day of surfing. Not now. They felt a bit wierd at first but I got used to them. The way they are made it is almost impossible for them to come off in the water. Only $25 if they do. Highly recommended.

    Life is good.
I feel sorry for people that don't surf.

Yeah, man, it was pretty good. Glad you got some too. Wish the waves had a bit more epicness though. Almost unrideable by low tide Sunday. I can't wait to get the noserider into some at least waist high surf. Really wanna get up your way soon. But the wife's board is in Fort Pierce so if it's ready we will need to go there to retrieve her baby.

Typical motels waves rights reeling off all over the place with decent size and a lot of paddling.

SOOO glad today's fun waves and hot weather waited until after the holiday weekend to show up. The traffic was so crazy at the beach I don't know if I would have bothered. 90 degree blasting heat, offshores, cold water this afternoon. Soft shapely waves that had waist high ambitions on the incoming tide later this afternoon. The 5'4" Chemistry I picked up this summer made these little nuggets so fun to skate all over.

    Nice shots as always Mitchell.

    What's happening today?
paddled out in a pair a trunks this morning and almost paddled right back in I was so cold. But I acclimated soon enough and caught a bunch of waves that looked like those pics. Easy breezy surfing. The waves were peeling and glassy. Ton of dead flying ants floating on top of the water.
    Who else has been surfing?

Took out the Mini Sim yesterday in some clean thigh to waist high surf. Just me and a couple of local cats having fun and trading waves at a spot here in town. Summertime...

Almost 7 days in a row of knee - thigh with the occasional waist high set thrown in. Today was a little better as the tide was a little lower at sunrise and was able to get more of the incoming. I've been following this sand bar around all week, as the sand shifts, got it pretty dialed in, it's been working on all tides, but today was fun. A few were legit waist+ , did a few big bottom turns and then out on the nose to beat the section and then walk back and ride almost to the sand and turn around and do it again. I've got the LB clicking on all cylinders it seems, with the type of glassy conditions I've been getting at DP each morning it's been really easy getting a ton of waves. Spoiled by the offshore to calm winds. So peaceful sitting out there all by myself, hearing nothing but seagulls / birds, waves, and seeing bait fish jumping all over the place. It's been fun, but starting to itch for some waves with more punch to them.

The last few morning have been fun here on NJ-maybe the last three?? Idk... Small surf like knee to thigh with a waist hi wave every once in a while. Freezing water a few mornings ago but warmed up.

Fun little longboard waves. Been riding this old 60's popout board - got it from a guy for 40$, just sealed it up and took it out- surfs better then I expected! Custom Malibu popout- weighs like 50 lbs. actually had a great noseride on it this morning!

Agreed with Mr. Belmar. Last few mornings and evenings in Jerz have been fun. I'm in AC still and am fortunate enough to wake up and peek right outside my window to see what's happening. No forecast or wave cam needed! I love it. This morning I was out there around 7 with another local dude. He was on a LB I was on the groveler. Really fun session. We were trading back and forth with nice little peelers coming in between knee and thigh high. Mom got a little vid from up top cool views!!! Here's a pic of me on a fun one. Hoping a rogue swell comes in before Friday. image.jpg
