Was just south of youse in SB that week. Very hot .. sand was scalding. Was very flat .. only able to get some knee /thigh set waves that were breaking close to shore at low tide incoming on a couple of days. Paddled a SUP north to the edge of that Darn Neck where you usually hang. Gave a salute and paddled back south. Lots of bait fish in the water plus friendly porpoises. Back home now. Looks like some swell heading our way. Hopefully the whole EC will get some refreshment.
2.5 mln miles plus several hundred thou in hotel pts & whatever. Obviously not traveling enough this year. All work & not much surfing makes Yankee not only a crappier surfer but a dull buoy, too. Trying to get The Seen to go to CR, free air in the front cabin, he's a bit swamped with diapers.... TLo is under the weather, butt will recover soon. Miles for the buoyz
Action has been picking up through the week here. Good thing for the ECSC being held at the VB Oceanfront. Not so many menhaden and dolphin as 2 weeks ago. Nice clean, waist high sets this morning off DNeck. Only two of us out. Looks good for tomorrow AM as well. Better hit the rack.
Dawn patrol with the longboard this morning in clean knee high. Had to leave for work just as the waves seemed to be picking up with the low incoming tide. Shot this after getting out at around 8:30.
Dawn Patrol alert-Nice clean waist highs dished out at folly this morning before work. Hangover almost cured, worth losing the hour of sleep
Today the crew blew off work. Well, it was really scheduled off a few weeks ago. It's not a good sign when there's only one guy in the water. The ocean was so thick with seaweed. Past the lineup. But at least the waves were awful after a couple of fun rides, we drove to the next beach north which was less seaweedy but punishing winter like close outs. Two girls got several fun rides, until one got hurt and another lost her hat. One ripped my SeaSpecs off, luckily found them.shouldve stayed at the first beach and put up with seaweed.... It was just one of those days. But ya know, it's always fun no matter what. Something about being old that allows you to appreciate all the good stuff and ignore the bad. Hoping for round two tomorrow if I can get a crew together. Valhalla? PM me if you and the wife decide to drive up. I will check my PM before 6:00 am.
Another cool pic, gracias to Mitchell. Told the boss to stick it in his ear, I'm taking most of next week off & hanging at TPTSNBN. Trying not to get too insanely stoked over the fucast, and thus jinx it.
Mitchell is a magician with that camera. I surfed for 2hrs (hour before and after the tide) and it didn't look anything like that (not far from where that pic was taken)
Couple of fun, low tide mornings here in the northern Outer Banks the past two days. Mid period maybe 11-12 sec yesterday, no wind and you could connect the outside wave past the trough to the inside. Today was smaller but still fun. I even "borrowed" a wavestorm foamie from my bud's kids and got some fun rights until I had to give it back.
I'm not sure I can even characterize today as surfing. I mean, I was on a surfboard, in the water, and waves were pushing me, but to call it surfing is a stretch. Hoping to get a few on the SUP tomorrow before the crowd fills in. We'll see.
I had big plans to surf Second Beach this morning, but man alive, I've never seen flatter surf. This is First Beach, which is a good indicator. Maybe go for a paddle or swim later I guess.
Not just you bra. Belmar, where 23 footers are supposed to come alive, has been pitiful every evening I've gone this week. Hardly even logable. Looks like this week things are gonna turn up a little.
got pretty good here today 2-4ft with some little air drops on these double ups on the reform. ne-5-10 cross here with our se fcing beach. had some long lefts and rights with steapness which doesnt happen all the time here. 4.6ft @ 10sec on the buoy not bad 4 sc
fun morning when the wind was dead at a shallower spot. knee to stomach high like yesterday evening, hoping to score tomorrow at the right time and place
So is the whole East Coast surfing population!! Have fun with the herds!!!!! Baaaahhhh!!! Baaaaahhhh!!!! Mooooo!!! Mooooo!!!! And yes....I will be out there as well........
It was kinda zooed out today at my spot, all the gang was there. Generations of shredders. All on three peaks.Waist to chest, fun bowls. Yesterday at a public spot in Jupiter it was just as crowded, waist plus, but less talent in the water so it was easier to get a wave. Today it was a challenge to get a nice nug, but I had my fat fish and got a few fast steep quick rights with a couple little lefts thrown in. Clear warm water. Everyone very nice and friendly. But damn those bastads can shred. No wave was unridden. Very fun session. Looks like tomorrow pm will be good on the incoming push.
