I'd call them 'gentlemans waves on sand'. In recovery mode now, and apologizing to those I blew off this weekend, including my kids. It had to be done.
I got 2 hours in on Sunday AM; it was truly the best session we have had all year, I believe. Not only were the waves a nice size, but many had great holding walls to fly across for a long ride. Once out of the water, I had to drive my daughter and granddaughter back up north through some driving rains storms for 2 hours up to Hanover, then 2 hours down. I lived through it......
So flat here... like, FLAT flat. Maybe the vis will improve, just as the big cow stripers start moving.
They are trickling in over here. Sat morning I am hitting the surf. Figure i'll grab a back pack with gear and just walk and cast.
Yea sunday was something special, rides were insanely good, and top to bottom the whole way. The winds were holding up sections that would normally shut down. You know it's good when you start thinking, 'maybe I should cut out cause that's gonna be a long paddle back out'.
Flat up here now. But Saturday and Sunday were "best of the year"....I got out both days early AM. Then went home to enjoy day with family.
i've been itching to get out to the mutha ocean myself. folly should get some waves finally, been a week, today. looked out this morning, still choppy but the winds are expected to die out. gonna aim for an evening session. got some buds getting up for the crack of dawn patrol tomorrow. then an early sess planned saturday, b4 i roll down to SAV and plan on checkin tybee that evening. really stoked for some stomach high's haha, better than being on land tho
Same here dude, been waiting for my shoulder to feel OK and for these constant onshore winds to let up. Been a boring couple of weeks.
It's been almost two weeks since my last surf. My last surf was good though. AC was aboot chest high and super clean. Got some 50-100 yard peelers. Lake Atlantic is in full effect right now. I really hope to see some good swell soon. We had a good thing going for a bit. In any case here are some fun ones from my last sesh...
We had a bunch of sets roll thru yesterday evenning and today. yesterday was still chop with 10+ winds, but things cleared up this morning. very smooth chest highs at DP at the home break. should make for a good couple days this wknd, perhaps lasting thru Halloween. I took the 7'2" mogHolly funbort yesterday, didn't get much going the distance but was manageable prob with a smaller bort. decided to go with the 7'6" Captain this morning and it helped a lil more today then yesterday cuz it took a lil bit for the wave to break. def some great waves for the wknd, stoked. need to hop on the shorties tho for the incoming high tide get the Shred Out. hopefully u guys in the SE, and the N FL area are catching some of the aktion
Today, Friday at 2PM, bouys are reading 15 feet with 11 seconds. Winds are just beginning to turn from the West, offshore for here. Most surf spots are nearly double overhead, or better. But still disorganized; tomorrow is the call...I hope. It should settle down a bit a be pretty good.
Excited to catch .5 second rides in waist high junk tomorrow on LI, but it's been so long I don't even care
I guess I don't feel so bad now! I had a good day in Monmouth about 2 weeks ago. It will be two weeks this Sunday. Was hoping for something this past Wednesday, I got Lake Atlantic too. A couple business trips to California coming up, first one on Monday. That will be a quick trip though. Will be really happy with just 2 hours in the water on Monday.
